There is no chance in hell Dumoulin isn't protected in the expansion draft. Pettersson wouldn't be protected over him and Mathesson sure as poop won't be either. Matheson will be exposed, and if Seattle is smart they won't take him. Typically you don't protect guys who are bad enough that the expansion team won't want them even if exposed.
It's crazy to me that you had Dumoulin exposed and still elected to take a 4C with questionable upside. |

I'm sorry but Dumoulin is the obvious choice here.
Hell I don't understand why he wouldn't be protected. |

I’d like to know the logic from this “pens fan” for protecting Matheson over Dumoulin.
And if Dumoulin was available, I think he’d be the pick for Seattle. Not only because he’s shown to be a top pairing dman, but you could flip him for more than just Blueger |

Hell, Pettersson wouldn't be protected over Dumoulin and he's a million times better than Mathesson. This is just a head scratcher of a blog all around. |

Sean Maloughney: Kraken Expansion Draft - Pittsburgh Penguins - Sean Maloughney
I'd take Tanev in a heartbeat. He was a 4th line AHL player at 24 years old and has improved his game so much over the past 4 seasons. Anybody who watched him as a Jet, or Pen, knows what this guy brings every night. Hard to pass on Dumolin as well. |

His reasoning for exposing Matheson over Dumoulin is that “after trading hornqvist for Matheson, JR may not want to give up so quickly on Matheson after one season”....
By this logic, we might as well protect Ceci and force letang to waive his NMC |

JR won't have to because Seattle won't take him. That contract is a poison pill, and you don't protect garbage contracts that are in no danger of being taken. Its a waste of a protection. |

It would be Duomolin, but he won’t even be exposed. Matheson exposed for sure. |

This is rough for two reasons:
-Not a chance in hell Dumo isn’t protected if Matheson. The reasoning behind protecting him was absolutely bonkers too. Dumo is one of the best shut down dmen in the league and they aren’t going to expose him to protect Jack Johnson Lite (Matheson).
-If for whatever reason this did come to fruition, Seattle would be making a colossal mistake picking Blueger over Dumo. You’re going to pick a 4C over a 2D? Asinine lol. |

The protect list provided for the D is not even close. It will be:
Letang
Dumoulin
Marino |

Marino doesn't need to be protected. He's not eligible for the expansion draft due to lack of professional experience. |

This one is bonkers. What the hell is a Blueger?
Saaaaawing and a miss

For all the reasons stated above, oof |

I for the most part have been enjoying these blogs, but as a Pens fan, this one is just insane. Unless Matheson magically turns into a top-2 defenseman there is no way they leave Dumoulin unprotected. I'm not so sure they choose McCann over Blueger either. |

Even with horrible protection lists and teams exposing talent you're still putting together a garbage team for Seattle. Thank god those won't be the actual protection lists and mostly Thank god you wont be the one assembling the real Seattle team for the sake of hockey! |

Whoever submitted this list is mental.
And no offense but this team in general stinks. Doing this exercise so far ahead of time not knowing who would be resigned, hit their protection eligibility, etc. doesn’t make any sense. |

Ya'll are (frank)ing mean. It's an expansion team. They're most likely gonna suck. Relax. |

Again, most likely. Apart from MAF and Florida goofing by giving up both Smith and Marchy their roster didn't start so hot either |

That was an exception for sure. With most teams protecting 60% of their roster, odds are this won't end the same. I am expecting this team to take more picks/prospects/bad contracts then they do top rostered players. Only time will tell, but I highly doubt this club makes the playoffs, let alone the Stanley cup finals. |

I think some decent players will be exposed just due to the flat cap. Sucks to lose them for nothing but wtf else will a team like Tampa do.
And yeah dumo will be protected. |

The suspense of waiting for the Canucks player to be taken is killing me.
Will the Kraken take Holtby in goal,or one of the minor-league defenseman like Brisebois or Sautner, or will they select Jayce Hawryluk or Lukas Jasek at forward.
No, the person selecting for Canucks is probably a Leaf fan and will have the Kraken select Loui Erickson, with a 1st and Podkolzin and Another prospect attached. |
