About 23 years or so. We moved here from Toronto and that turned into a pretty poopty commute by the end (2 hours getting home). We live in Aldershot near Northshore. It is getting pretty congested here but I don’t find it a problem as I can pick and choose when I’m out. My wife grew up in Grimsby around Casablanca. It was a 24 acre weekend farm that her dad bought 55 years or so ago that’s all subdivision now.

I've got a couple of buds who live in Burlington and commute everyday (pre-pandemic) to downtown TO. I can't imagine doing it -- the money may be better but I value those hours wasted in traffic/trains too much to have ever gone down the same path.

Having said that, in a post-pandemic world, one wonders if remote work will make the commute obsolete (or at least significantly reduced) for a good amount of workers.

Still, glad I'm out here in Grimsby (lakeside) though I do have very fond memories of growing up in Burlington (my parents actually still live there). I spent the first number of years growing up in Tyandaga and then moved to Headon Forest.
