I never suggested it was a "100% go". I'm suggesting it's a very good sign.

Essentially, he's giving up a Finnish gig where he's playing a guaranteed 23 mins a night to roll the dice on making a bottom pair role on the Leafs in a COVID-19 postponed season.

That's quite a gamble and it leads me to believe it's calculated at much better than 50/50 odds that it will happen.

- mjones242

Clearly he has to come and get ready for a season that they are planning to play. Not coming and going through quarantine would be irresponsible. the fact that there are no home games in Finland makes the decision easier.

All I'm saying is Gary and Mikka and everyone can plan and set dates and get ready. But there's got to be a number where they just can't play. January 1 projected daily death rate in the US is over 2,500. Will that go higher if Donald stays on the shutter till then? Is that too big a number for teams to be flying around the country to play hockey?

Those questions seem more relevant than Lehtonen coming to Toronto. But I was wrong, once.

There are 2 home games scheduled for Jokerit but they will not have fans. I'm not aware of any of their away games being cancelled. Suffice it to say, it's probably more likely that Lehtonen/Jokerit had already penciled this date in before this "news" broke.

Per the NHL, there are plenty of options that can be explored that can mitigate risk (e.g. mini-hubs). The NBA seems keen on moving forward with an aggressive start and players are on board and I can't see any reason why the NHL wouldn't.

But hey, whatevs... it's all speculation now, but killing an entire season at this point seems unlikely in my eyes. As unlikely as Donnie remaining in office past Jan 20th.

Ehh... I disagree.

Too much to lose if they decide to cancel this season. There will be hockey in some fashion in the New Year though I think the only long shot here is starting the season on Jan 1st.

Hopefully.

Did the PA react to the 15% reduction proposal?

When I hear things like 2-4 of key lime beer it makes it so easy to continue not drinking, thanks fellas. I did have a craving for orange pekoe tea and amaretto the other day.

I hope that anal pustule Don Jr takes an express trip to Herman Cain Island, that would be funny and just.

Oh, man - I couldn't disagree more! We are currently living in the Golden Age of Beer(tm): there is so much selection in terms of flavour, style, and breweries that one can never grow bored!

It's incredible that, for decades, Big Beer controlled the flow of beer and arranged it so that only a few piss poor lagers were available for consumption. Now I can hit up the LCBO every few weeks and find a half-dozen new beers to try. Love the notion of limited runs and new flavours being released constantly (Collective Arts just released IPA 15!).

Then again, I'm not sure if I could stomach 24 Key Limes? Hell, I can't remember the last time I deliberately picked up anything more than a 6-pack of something.

Orange Pekoe Tea? Yeah, there's a beer for that:

Amaretto? Yessir!

Can't wait to hit up Culaccino in Burlington tomorrow night for some craft beer escapades.

Oh yeah, I agree, beer is a quantum leap better than 10 or 20 years ago. It's astounding how many great beers are being brewed just in Ontario alone now. I just got off the wobbly pops because I'd had enough.

I did always like that lemon tea beer Mill St. did...and radlers...perhaps I'm conflating key lime with bud lime, which is disgusting. Anyway, there's more for everyone else to enjoy if I'm not drinking lol

I agree wholeheartedly in regards to the Golden Age. Microbreweries are flourishing, and with such great competition, we’re really seeing the benefits.

That being said, I dunno about key lime. Hmm. I’d have to try it.

Have fun in Burlington. It’s an underrated city. Love that town.

Don’t forget to grab some Heady Topper! I’m not even an IPA junky because many brewers try to substitute bitterness for flavor, but somehow they got it right.

Unfortunately, Burlington, ON (the city I grew up in) not Burlington, VT.

I definitely would love to hit up The Alchemist one day though! I had a friend bring back some Heady Topper a couple years back and it was delicious!

So what does the other Burlington have besides Bernie, and being close to great skiing and biking, beautiful rolling hills.

Our Burlington has me.

I rest my case (and wipe the hair dye from the side of my head)

Not-so-coincidentally, both Burlingtons are sister cities.

How long have you been in Burlington, ON? I grew up there and then moved to Grimsby in 2010. Love my old town but damned if it isn't getting congested AF.

When you’re in Burlington, if you have time, check out Foam Brewing Co.

Edit: Are we talking about VT or a different Burlington?

Double edit: Oh yeah. We’re in a pandemic and the border is closed Ahjay

Yeah, unfortunately, we're talking about Burlington, Ontario.

There's actually a couple of decent places here though for craft beer: Beertown and Culaccino. The former is a chain which has a pretty decent selection and food, the latter is a more intimate affair but also sports quite a few beers (from all over, not just Ontario) and has a great kitchen.

This will be only the second time I've been out since the pandemic started where I've hit one of these places so I'm kind of looking forward to it.

When (and if) the borders ever open, I'm definitely doing a New England trip.

Clearly you don't.

you believe its 50/50 and I gave you 60/40 odds in favour for you.

Do you only bet when its 100% in favour for you?
