The Leafs have only had 7 Finnish players in their history and I've only liked 2 of them (edit: and 3 goalies).

Jyrki Lumme
Leo Komarov
Aki Berg
Niklas Hagman
Olli Jokinen
Cheeks Klapanen

all lovable

And say what you will about Toskala, but he retired by setting all of his hockey equipment on fire in the middle of a frozen lake. That's badass.

It's truly hideous. Why is the logo so (frank)ing huge?

Like... why couldn't they riff of the Arenas jersey design? Have "Leafs" instead of "Arenas" with a big T in the middle and do the whole jersey in St. Pat's green.

Or riff off of 1914 Toronto Blueshirts:

I was mulling over a design that says MAPLE LEAFS across the chest of the jersey in a downward diagonal left to right pattern. I think it would look sharp.

"Apple is lobbying against a bill aimed at stopping forced labor in China
Apple wants to water down key provisions of the bill, which would hold U.S. companies accountable for using Uighur forced labor, according to two congressional staffers"

I'm sure they'd rather think of it as encouraging full employment

There will be a season Garnie.

I'm not even worried.

People thinking there won’t be a season are as gullible of the trump sheep over in the states

Ahh... hmm... I swear I picked one of those up the other day but just checked my stash and there's none to be had: sounds like I'm not missing much.

Can't be any worse than their West Coast IPA though, can it?

Awwww...Scotty Davidson 20 games played, 23 Goals, 13 assists, 64 penalty minutes, and died the following year near Vimmy Ridge.

Baa

I doubt they start January 1 and there's not much better than 50/50 for season in my mind, not until Covid numbers come way down.

Methinks Lehtonen terminating his Jokerit contract is a clear signal that there's better than a 50/50 chance for a season.

Rinks are 200 feet and nets are 11 feet from the boards, so it was not 197 feet. More like 178 feet.

Yes, I have OCD.

It means he'll be ready. It doesn't mean that it a 100% go. Covid is still calling the shots. If things clear up, we're set

Lehtonen's probably on a similar level as Ozhighanov.
In other words; let's not get too excited.

He gave his equipment a viking funeral, and then it slid 200 feet along the ice and through his legs and probably lit his house on fire.

Missing: Lumme, and some dude from the 1920's I'd never heard of: Al Pudas. Which, frankly, sounds like a made-up name - especially if you say it with an accent.

In net, we also had legends Kaskisuo and Rynnas play.

I stand by my earlier assertion: The crap that Chara got away with ends when he leaves the Bruins. It would be exacerbated on the Leafs. He'd be in the box 6 times a game. Commentators would say, "He might be a good penalty killer, but we'll never know because he's always in the box."

Jyki Lumme. He sucked, but you can't simply denounce his Nationality. If you could do that, pick Aki Berg first.

Edit: Nevermind: I see you had him. My mistake

literally first on the list

And Jyrki was a steady d-man, in his time. He suffered from end of career leafs-itis as did a lot of other good players.

Pfft. Everyone knows the first line is irrelevant. Like, "To Whom it may concern", "Dear Sir or Madam", or "Cease and Desist Immediately".

Swing by my house and I will give you one - bought four in the summer, opened one and almost puked. Have managed to get rid of two more by daring people to drink them.

cue people who say epidemiologists and statisticians don't know what they're talking about when daily case count is much lower and ask to throw out all the science
