I am not sure I exactly see what you are saying. NHL Players taking less will not impact the minor league players, unless they can come up with some sort of compensation scheme where savings from NHL players will benefit the AHL players and so on. I doubt it, given the low leverage of the latter.

Depending on such ad hoc charity for dire situations is not very effective. In every developed country I am aware of, Covid unemployment assistance is significantly more generous than here, and significantly more sustained.

In most western European countries government has stepped in like an insurer, paying employers to keep employees at about 80% of salaries. In Canada, unemployment assistance was much more prompt and sustained. I haven't checked recently what the Canadian unemployment rate is but a few weeks ago, unemployment rates in western Europe had risen 1%, whereas in the US, it had risen 8% due to the pandemic.

Its hardly the players fault that the such institutionalized response does not exist here.

As a scholar and academic how can you not see that what he is saying is that players in the minor leagues, who don't make a lot of money to start with may not make any money at all due to leagues being shut down. Versus the millionaires of the NHL. Instead you went off on some nonsense about unemployment.

We have been hearing that since the kid has been drafted, but he just can’t get on the court. I hope his luck has changed this season.

Why would I care whether or not he pays his bills? Every president that has ever held office is a con man. One thing they all have in common.

I am claiming, for pro basketball discussion purposes, to turn this forum into a Sixers discussion, since the number of Sixers posts have a big lead.

I’m still not sold on Simmonds continuing to develop but I think they made themselves a whole lot better last night.

Would like to see the bench get a little stronger but I think the core is looking pretty solid.

Someone made a meme of recent Giuliani quotes on pics of Charlie from Its Always Sunny. So perfect.

Knicks in a good spot. Finally a good coach , Young talent, plenty of cap space.

I'm eager to see them play under a different coach and in their natural positions, especially Tobias Harris. With the addition of Curry and Green, plus cap room to fill out the rest of the roster, we will hopefully hardly ever see Embiid hovering around the three point line ever again. The spacing on the floor should be a lot better too.

The Knicks are a trainwreck. The Nets are the real powerhouse NY team.

new competent staff. Won’t be a train wreck. Won’t be fixed overnight either.

Every time I watched a Sixers game, I wanted to throw something at the TV when I constantly saw a monster 7 footer out at the 3 point line.

Hopefully Rivers also starts enforcing Embid's total lack of fitness.
