well I guess in this case the "fair deal" would be to keep what was initially negotiated then... anyways I really hope they get this done and start in January, it would suck balls for both the fans and the sport in general to have no hockey at all
- Pat1993

And just as a point, it wasn't like people didn't see this poop coming when the cba was signed. Many people pointed out how flawed it was and what is playing out now was predictable when it was signed

As the NFL learned in the 80s with replacement players that strategy may only take you so far. Hell the NHL was treating the players like farm animals until Gretzky forced the issue in the early 90s

Oh I don't disagree, but these guys didn't become billionaires by throwing money around like drunkin' sailors.

Hell I think most of them would steal Christ off the cross, and come back for the nails..

Fully agreed. That's where bargaining in good or bad faith comes in. Once you start bargaining in bad faith you should start arming yourself because war is coming just a matter of when

He who holds the gold makes the rules.

Been that way for some time now, not just in sports either..

yep, imo negotiations for the next cba will get ugly. players won't get fooled again. they now know owners' word is worth nothing.

And I'm pretty confident Jeremy Jacobs has used up all his capital with other owners. Not sure how willing some of them, especially in the smaller markets, will be to line up behind him

they need to come to an agreement where they are business partners. for real.
revenues for last season were 1B? (or whatever the amount is) players will get half of that for next season. period. and so on.
now lets work on how we can increase that number year after year.

Too logical. They still can't even agree on what constitutes hockey related revenue despite that being what they have agreed to split

Which is why the league gets shut down after every (frank)ing cba. It's stupid business and only hurts their ability to grow the league

exactly. my previous post would end this for ever. only little details would need to be negotiated for each cba because all the financials would be settled for good.

Yup, biggest expense in most business, next to cost of goods is labour, trimming that is straight profit.

That's how they'll always see it.

In this case labour is the goods and without it they are left with no income but still have to pay expenses like arena rent. Empty arenas are expensive
