Since it's Musicbuzz in here, we had a bizarre conversation at the dinner table last night, where we ended up deciding we were going to form a family band.
But since family bands are usually Christian rock or Christian country, we are going to be a satanic band.
And since most satanic bands are heavy metal, we are going to be the world's first family adult contemporary satanic band.
Good morning, fellas. Good day to do nothing. - Atomic Wedgie
I'll refer you to bands from the late 60s/early 70s occult rock scene like Coven, Black Widow, and obv. Blue Oyster Cult... and a newer version in the church of the cosmic skull which has a distinct family (read cult) vibe |

I'm talking about songs - songs that will become classics that will live forever.
They are just not there. It's style and formula over substance.
Musicianship is another issue. Yes, there are some very good musicians these days. For example I got turned onto Blake Mills' guitar playing recently. His parts on Bob Dylan's latest LP are awesome. But you have to acknowledge - musicianship, especially advanced, serious musicianship among popular artists, is a dying, almost dead art. It's another area that just does not compare. They are fantastic computer programmers and auto-tuners, though. - fifty__missions
There's always great new music coming out, it's just much more splintered into different subgenres. We're not listening to the same bands on the radio.
I find incredible music that is new or new to me all the time browsing on Spotify. A lot of it won't become famous, well-known classics, but they are great songs. Some of my favourite albums of all time have come out in the last few years. |

The key phrase that you used might be among popular artists. There are some amazing people playing, some that I keep hoping might break through, partly I admit because I’d like to see a genre of music I enjoy make a bit of a return. Lukas Nelson is an example. He’s a great song writer, has a wonderful voice (sounds like his dad) and is a fabulous guitar player. He’s had the potential to generate a return of guitar based rock that would make me happy. - Canada Cup
Yes, agreed Lukas N. is fantastic. |

Lots of guitar rock happening, it's just not in the popular Top 40 culture. |

When I was working and commuting 1 and a half to 2 hours each way the only music radio stations I listened to regularly were the UofT and McMaster student stations because they regularly played music I had never heard before. My Sonos system also has an international radio component where I can listen to stations from anywhere in the world.
It’s funny how you get turned onto stuff. The inflight radio had a Cuban jazz component that I spent the flight listening to. I never knew about it before but thst was enough.
Streaming services are great in adding more and more titles for you to add.
Ive gotten lazy lately though. |

I LOVE Spotify. It's like having the biggest record store in the world always on hand. I have found so much stuff browsing in it. And the algorithm brings up all kinds of stuff that I end up loving and would never have found in a million years otherwise. |

With all the fancy computer doohickeys at their fingertips, why doesn't CBS try to show viewers how slanted the greens are?
It's funny watching the best players in the world miss two-foot putts. Some context would help. |

Wow.
We're in a new kind of dark age, where we have access to more information than ever at our fingertips, and social media filter bubbles have people convinced that 2 + 2 = 5, and Nylander is a perimeter player. |

Lots of shots today have looked like me on the golf course today.
Rahm snap hooking a fairway wood into the sh1t and then hitting his next shot off a tree and into the bushes looked very familiar to me.
