Arguing for the running game in the 2020 NFL is like arguing that the pony express is superior to the telegraph in 1860
- jcragcrumple

The best way to keep great QB and potent offense in check is ball control with long, sustained drives featuring the running game. We're not talking Barry Sanders where he carried the entire offense on his shoulders, but a good QB, capable receivers and an offensive line that can control the line of scrimmage and eat up the clock.

Anytime we see a matchup vs. a Mahomes, Brees, or Rogers dating back to Warner, Kelly, Marino and Fouts, pre-game analysis always centered around keeping those offenses off the field as much as possible and having your defense make timely stops.

Just my 2 cents...and ya ain't getting anymore

Or just be those teams and let the opposition worry about how they're going to try to stop you

Emmit Smith was a below average RB that made the Hall of Fame because of a commitment to being balanced and running behind an O-line in which he didn’t get touched until he was 5 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Offences need balance

Tampa Bay has been the best offensive team for years and only won the cup once they played lights out defensively and Vasilesky made the saves he needed too.

Mahomes won MVP in 2017 yet lost in the AFC Championship game.

The Chiefs come back a year later with a better running game and a top 10 defence and win it all.

Bills aren’t winning anything until they establish a ground game or stop somebody from running all over them wether Allen ends up winning MVP or not.

- Pegullaville

Way oversimplication. Tampa had several blowouts in their 2020 play off run, as well as winning tightly contested games too.

3 of 6 games in 2020 SC Final series by Tampa in which
-they allowed 3 goals or more.
- scored 5 goals in 2 and 4 in another.

They clinched in game 6 with a 2-0 shutout if that is what you mean.

Play a ton of zone, roll coverage to Diggs’ side and double him when they play man, force someone else to beat you.

My defence would force Singletary and Moss to beat me on the ground or will concede a 150 yard game to Gabe Davis because I’m making sure Diggs does nothing all day. I’d wait for the trigger happy Daboll and Allen to walk themselves into 2 INT’s in the 2nd half because they become too impatient and force it to Diggs

Balance is fine. Great even. I don’t think anyone doesn’t want to be able to do everything well.

Here's the thing: defenses don't last. You get maybe 3-5 years of great play before it gets rebuilt. Likewise with the shelf life of a RB. If you have a great QB, you are set up for a sustained 10-15 years of good results.

The titans had the perfect storm last year of a defense playing lights out and a reclamation QB. That's not a sustainable business model. Elite QBs are a sustainable business model. That's how a poopty coach like Mccarthy lasts in a place for way too long: the QB makes everything look good

I’m not disagreeing with you.

The Bills should be a playoff team here for a long time if the last 10 games are an indication of what are to come.

The step up from playoff contender to Super bowl contender though is much more then just having an elite QB. There will be many great QB’s in each conference. The difference will come down to defence and time of possession (which running the ball has a big impact in).

That type of defense has been getting scorched all year. If you don't pressure Allen, you're in for a long day. If you're aggressive, Daboll will just call WR screens all day. In that sense, I'm with you, pressure Daboll into mistakes.

I really like the Panthers reverse retro too.

I think Chicago is hiding the logo on purpose out of embarrassment of what their logo means and conveys.

- kingcong39

As a youngster the Sabres and Blackhawks logos were my favorites, and were until the Panthers came along.
What the Blackhawk logo conveys to me is a proud and fearsome warrior that’s worthy of my respect and admiration. It conveys a leader full of strength and courage. I see a logo that inspired my interest in Native Americans, and led to a deeper understanding and admiration for their culture and beliefs. I see a proud and noble Native American warrior chief, and I see nothing wrong with the logo. I also see no problem with the Chiefs or the Braves team names.
Having said all that, I do understand why others feel differently. I learned enough long ago to know that fans shouldn’t be wearing warpaint and feathers. I remember telling people in high school that the Braves needed to get rid of that Chief Nokahoma guy, and his fukking teepee, too. People take it too far, even if the disrespect is done out of ignorance, it’s still disrespectful. The tomahawk chop bs is another. The Washington logo is beautiful, but the name should’ve been changed long, long ago. And I didn’t even get into the issues of their treatment by the government. I understand why people don’t like this logo, or name.
It’s a little sad that it may disappear and a future young boy may not get the chance to see it, and admire it and want to learn more about the people it represents because of it.

Think we can lure Dilfer out of retirement? Then we can trade Allen for a depth OL
- Blockhead

Jfc....
NO ONE is saying anything remotely close to that

Generally....
Well rounded teams are the most successful
Jim Kelly’s Bills teams had Thurman & a good defense
That’s why we were better than Miami every year,
because all they had was Marino & the passing game to rely on
Thinking we can Marino our way to the Super Bowl w the passing game being the ONLY “good” part of our team just isn’t likely at all

The Bills right now:
Offense
Pass offense- great (5th)
Run offense- terrible (29th)
* being one dimensional leads to stretches like we’ve had in 3rd Quarters where we don’t put teams away & allow them to come back or stay in the game

Defense
Pass defense- average (17th)
Run defense- horrible (28th)
* the defense is inarguably below average,
and no where close to as good as last year

Overall
* besides the Pats game, the way we win is by our passing game. It’s been really good overall.
* but no offense can be “perfect” week after week, especially when it’s one dimensional....
and that’s why it’s led to losses against teams like TEN & KC- teams we’ll need to beat to get to the Super Bowl

***No one is saying Allen sucks
Just that he doesn’t have any help,
and the other parts of our team aren’t playing
well enough

And thinking that means “trade Allen for a depth OL and get Dilfer” is unequivocally moronic

Because that’s ALL THEY HAD
Much like we ONLY have a passing game

Being one dimensional isn’t the blueprint for Super Bowl success
No run game & Crappy defense =
not good enough team

What the Hawks logo meant to YOU,
isn’t necessarily what it means/conveys to EVERYONE

If the team name or logo changes- so what???

*I still cheered just as hard for the “goat head” uniformed Sabres even though i thought that logo & those colors were horrible

And when the Bills changed their logo to the “charging buffalo” it didn’t stop fans from supporting the Jim Kelly Bills teams

Change the name, logo, colors... whatever
I’m still gonna be cheering on my Buffalo teams,
as will the rest of the fans

Awesome Fitz, thanks for clarifying that. You seem confused as if You thought me expressing my opinion as to what the logo represents TO ME was me saying that’s how everyone sees/thinks. What is even the point of you responding to me? Did I even remotely imply that was how everyone sees it?

There may be some that turn away, and others that may become less fervent, but, I agree that most fans loyalty would remain after any initial shock/anger wears off.
