Leafs blog already complaining that the Canadian division will put them at a disadvantage. The NHL is so unfair to them.

Buy a plane MLSE can afford it. I sympathize they have to learn about a travel schedule that isn’t so convenient. Boo hoo

No top 5 center has his winger taking his faceoffs for him. In all honesty, EP is learning how to be a center right now. He came out of the SHL a winger... he needs to get competent with the faceoffs. He has to take more of them to do that...
- boonerbuck

List 5 centers you'd rather have from the western conference, despite his weak face-off skills.
I'll wait.

What is the role of a centre nowadays. It isn't the same as it used to be, as wingers have taken on more of a centrea responsibilities now.
Basically the main role of a centre now, is to take faceoffs, which is why I have posted a few times, that Petterson is Miller's winger.

Shouldnt the question be "name 5 centers you'd rather have beside Petey than Miller" at this time?

I'll wait for him to improve. There's no way he isnt working on it and there is no way he's not going to improve. He's half a center now though.

Sorry, couldn’t help myself...these centers are all better than Petey, right now, and you could probably add Jonathan Toews to that list too. Doesn’t mean I don’t love Pettersson, but he’s young and not quite on the same level as these guys right now.

Gaudette needs it lol

JV Petey Boeser
Pearson Bo Gaudette/Pod
Hoglander Miller Pod/Gaudette
Motte Beagle Sutter
MacEwen LE

Joking but would be interesting 3 scoring lines. Miller could double shift.

You know what I think of Gaudette,. Petterson is a very nice player to watch, other than not being able to take faceoffs, he needs to be to work on staying on his feet and not his butt.

Going by JB's waive the vets statement. The starting line up out of camp whenever that comes:

JTM Petey BB
Pearson Bo Ferland
Hogs Gaudette JV
Rousell Sutter Motte
ZacMac

This won't last, because with insurance now, Ferland will be on LTIR soon after start. On paper Beags waived. But no AHL to go to so part of Taxi squad; until Sutter injured. Canucks will want to transition Hogs into NHL play and see what they have. Of course he has to show something in camp to earn that start. If Hogs falters they can flush him back to SHL and ZacMac rotate in.

Green’s system is F1-F2-F3 not C, LW, RW. Who takes the face off is irrelevant.

Cavalier capitalism in the USA is simply astounding to be polite. Allowing covid to get to those levels is inexcusable given their so-called wealth & greatness.

I think Pettersson is an elite center because his role is more, first man back, puck distributer. He's so efficient because he thinks the game at a high level and controls up ice plays as they occur, same reason I think so highly of Quinn.

He controls the center of the ice on both ends, puts up points and doesn't take faceoffs, no big deal. Miller is better at faceoffs, doesn't mean he's better at other, more desirable traits which EP has.

I would pick Pettersson top 5 center in the west all day.
Miller is far down that list.

I call BS on Bettman and delays. The situation is not going to get better. Therapeutics and vaccines will not alter NHL season reality. They have to start with a bubble and the sooner the better.

Mathews is easily top 10 Player you build a club around. He's a whiny female dog and overpaid but a hell of a player. McDavid is overrated if anything.

Faceoffs on a meta level are also overrated, the majority of them don't impact the game. So whether a player takes them isn't a big factor.

No way a 3rd Tryamkin and Benn get you Killorn and Cernak.

A 3rd, Benn and Tryamkin would get you Loui Eriksson or a similar “asset”

The 1918-19 NHL season was from Dec. 21, 1918 to Mar. 6, 1919. Only 3 teams played in the season and they played a total of 18 games. Hamby Shore of the Ottawa Senators was the first player to die of the Spanish flu in Oct. 1918.

See it can be done.

Probably not but 2.9m isn’t getting Cirelli Sergachev & Cernak. TB will be biting bullets somewhere. Try your hand on how it could go

My weak scenario was:

Killorn Cernak 2021 3rd gets Benn for cap space. NJD was a 3rd team in the 3-way.
