I think Benn in his 2nd season will be fine.
I cannot complain about his signing & will agree he’s a 3rd pairing D man we can rely on ok.

- Nighthawk

Unlike Mini and Booner, I don’t keep a record of who said what, so I’ll take you at your word that you are good with Bennsey.

My point still remains, they have 5 guys with NHL games to their name and are expecting 3 rookies to take the step this year. That’s a lot to ask for a team that expects to win playoff rounds.

I see LE in again before Motte. TG likes his D if nothing else. Motte better suited bottom 6 but you never know. One more reason why Hoglander will get a chance.
- Nighthawk

Sorry but LE is getting waived along with Sven to be complaint. Green did use Motte with Bo on occasion as well. ZacMac still an NHL rookie so just settling him into regular role would be the goal. I'd still say JV is given the long season look with Bo.

Ok thanks, still think he's off his rocker to want Eriksson in a top 6 role, but he would certainly be very informed over anyone here
- Makita

Oh, I don’t think he “wants” last on the ice Lui playing top six. I think he would rather see him (or not see him) in the A, but he understands the situation and he thinks Green/Benning/Aqua will have Lui playing in Van.

As stated earlier, I still think there will be a deal made, relying on 3 rookies on defense doesn't really make sense.

He travels with the team on the road.... but not for covid thingy.
- boonerbuck

He was in the Edmonton bubble. He actually called games for the NHL after the Canucks were eliminated. He’s pretty well respected in the hockey community.

He also hates Trump

I don't know who Brendan Batchelor is, I'm guessing Sportnet or TSN, but personally I would never put Eriksson in the top 6, I would rely on Jake playing the big minutes, he would be heads and shoulders better than Eriksson.

This is just my opinion, but I'm no Brendan Batchelor.

Well I'm hoping that Eriksson will be playing popcorn football in the Vancouver press box, and not playing on the ice

I think they need at least one more guy with games under his belt. Even a Fatty type guy, just in case. I’m sure there will be 1 year, $1m guys like that available closer to training camp who could be assigned to AHL without cap complications.

Sorry, are you saying you are Ian Mac?

I’d agree with what he said. The forward group isn’t as good, or deep as last season, the D is better at the top, but also surrendered depth and the goaltending is a huge question mark. Demko could be Schneider or Cloutier, Holtby will certainly be Potvin...

- 1970vintage

No, I just came across an Instagram page of Canuck headlines and they have a bunch of quotes from almost every article written about Canucks.

Team defence needs to improve more than the actual goaltending.

Given the personnel available, do you believe a “better” system will pay significant dividends?

This is (apparently) the team Green wanted. Makita could finally get his wish...

Man, I got beaten to it by two others. Sorry.

I was watching past game highlights of Jacob Truscott playing with the U18s. Truscott is playing tomorrow possibly with University of Michigan.

He was a player that I had hoped the Canucks drafted on day 2. NHL network said his comparable was Alex Edler.

I'd go with more Alec Martinez ceiling.

JV would learn more playing with Petey & Miller. Boeser with Bo helps 2 line scoring better. If JV cannot show he’s taken another with them then back to middle 6 or trade bait.

Probable to start they get a vet D like that and have the rest of the guys rotate in from the Taxi squad. They will be with the team in the hybrid bubbles. Green can have daily roster decisions papering guys up and down. AHL looking less likely. Everything is getting canceled in out of control States.

Don’t hold your breath...

Apparently Benning wants to get a deal done, Green wants to get a deal done, but you know, uncertainty, is keeping them in a holding pattern. But if they get the season started, and an extension isn’t in place, and someone better becomes available, your dreams could come true.

Green wants a better team on paper for sure.

The team has holes, a few holes. Some major holes. I think every NHL has some major holes on paper. It's the coaches job to create a system that fits his players to get the best out of them.

Do I like dump and chase with this team, no. Could it still be used effectively if done correctly, sure. Dallas does a lot of it but they are good at it.

I don't believe this team is void of what it takes to be competitive nightly but it might be another year or two of players developing and others coming in to move some down the depth charts into a place they are more adequately suited too.

Makita ain't getting his wish anytime soon.

I’m with you. Still 3 rookies platooning isn’t bad & maybe Benn sits at times also. On the Benn signing I wasn’t for or against. I saw it as depth & toughness.

Did you steal Bill Huan's list from Canucksarmy?

3 players who haven't played even an AHL game and two that are basically in the same place that OJ and Raffety are right now.

This is where Chatfield enters if JB is serious.
