There’s always calls to make it a national holiday, but for the most part, veterans groups do not support that.

They feel that if it was a holiday, people would just treat it as a day off, giving remembrance a lesser focus on the day.

They are particularly focused on making sure that schools are open on 11/11, so kids can participate in Remembrance Day activities.
