Just went to HF...

I think I might do so more. Why? 1st thing I read is politics is not permitted. That garbage doesn’t belong anywhere.

The guy has proven time and time again, he isn't a 3. He can't carry another player on the 2nd pairing.
- manvanfan

Ideally we need Myers to be a 4 meaning it’s on OJ or Rathbone to make that happen.

What most people probably didn't realize is that he is literally born within a week of Madden.

Madden had 37 points in 27 games
McDonough had 27 in 31 games

Considering how highly some thought of Madden.

Not too far behind in terms of development but McDonough is 4 inches and 40 lbs heavier.

- manvanfan

8 of his 11 goals were on the PP. 5v5 like the article said will be his focus to improve.

I just don't understand, it's not as if the Myers is young and improving. He is what he is now a days. Van's D is a work in progress. Losing Myers in next years expansion draft is nothing.

I'd rather them give all the younger more ready defenders a good amount of time to get adjusted this coming season so they can prepare more for the 2021 season with the addition of a stud defender that they draft.

- manvanfan

We can’t be letting all RHD move on. That’s folly whether Myers is ideal or not. RHD are costly & very hard to replace.

I think the argument is if we aquire another top 4 RHD, who do we protect or let go. I would let Myers go instead of going 4 and 4 in the expansion draft.

I've been saying on Canucks he is now 4th guy. But he's the top RSD for at least a couple years(Woo hope). If there are trades then exposure may be an option. But as things stand no way Canucks would do it.

Not one of the so called more ready defenders will ever amount to what Myers provides, maybe Joulevi one day, but hasn’t shown the capacity yet.

Myers was, is a great addition.

Canucks only have Woo in the pipeline as RSD and top 4 potential. That's years away if he makes it. Not having drafted a RSD, they overpaid cap money instead of trading top young talent to get one. Drafting RSD is all luck of the draw when going BPA.

Which is better losing more talent through trade or living with an overpayment on cap?

Yeah, I read that in the article. What I was getting at was that Madden doesn't look as great a prospect as some made him out to be.

I think the Canucks agree. They saw a lot of McDonough, following Madden, and saw him as a better fit for the team.

I don't know if you hadn't noticed but the Tampa Bay Lightning just won a Stanley cup with

Buyout Bogo,
Buyout Shatty
Jan whotta?
Cernak
Bounced around Schenn.

It wasn't like a one or the other. It was is this player expendable or not. Van deemed him to be.

Would you have said the same thing about Tanev before he ever played an NHL game? I almost guarantee you did.

Tanev>Myers

Team doesn't know what they have in their prospects. Until they get up there.

Cernak was their 4th the rest were bottom fill ins. Canucks have no one on RSD except for Myers.

Agree that's what they found out in following Madden and discovering McDonough's improved play.

I'd rank Lind above Madden. Both are similar except Lind seems tougher and more an agitator. That helps his cause to fit into bottom 6; 3L/4L. It was top 6 or bust for Madden and Canucks have better options.

Your opinion which I really disagree with Myers>Tanev, Tanev is a fantastic defensive defender. Myers has a much better all round game and can actually hit the net with a point shot.

You are correct that team doesn’t know...but these guys have been in the system for a while, if they ever get a call up, the greatest coach in Canucks history refuses to play them. You know the coach I mean, the one that is really good at developing players.

Myers the better all around D played against significantly easier competition throughout the year than Tanev did. Yet was still a -9 vs Tanev and his +1

Best thing that could happen to Green is that is forced to do something.

Ok but what is the cost of that other RHD is my concern? I’m open to that but need to see how it affects us going forward as in contract & picks/prospects. I like trading. 👍

Woo should develop in Utica & project as bottom pairing. Move up if he earns it as seasons go by. Takes time if he can do that. Top 4 ceiling as a compliment is my vision.

Myers is a fixture by default & talent. Til we are deep deep in D which is far far down the road nothing will change imo.

Myers is going nowhere unless we miraculously turn our D into an elite force.
