1 goal 1 assist for Podkolzin. Flat cap all star

They'll be leg humping when NFU shows up.

Ranked around the 5th best center in the NHL, it's not all points, although he does get those as well.
In a non covid world, increasing cap, etc... on a long term deal I could see it.

In a covid world, I would be happy with a 10m contract.

5th best center in the NHL?

I'd question whether he's top 10.

Funny, I was in the Toronto thread and I asked them who the top 10 players in the league are.

Who do you think are the 10 best players in the league right now?

He is not in the 10-13 million category.
- Reubenkincade

I'd like somewhere around mid 9s on a 6 year deal. Maybe a 5 year deal. These star players need to give up a million or two so that they can have players around them.

A trade for a young D on a reasonable contract would be ideal, however unlikely.
- VanHockeyGuy

They have kids that are just waiting. Let's see if they can play 3rd pairing 15 minutes a night first.

Let me guess, Auston Matthews was #2

Interesting read...

"On 10 different occasions last season, Vancouver gave up a goal within ten seconds after a failed offensive zone shot – the worst total for any team last season:"

Canucks are a run and gun team, problem quite often is Canucks players take either an ill advised shot far too often instead of waiting or if there is a chance that the 2nd or 3rd man in aren't in the right spot to recover the pucks.

Watching Tampa Bay a few times this year, it was beautiful to watch them. Player comes down by himself, shoots. Shooting far side or short side. Most often short side the puck would come back into the near corner and the player could retrieve it. If shooting far side, an incoming player was angled more towards the boards so if the player missed wide, he would be there to pick up the puck.

Canucks players just put their heads down and drive directly towards the front of the net looking for a rebound.

He was top 10 to them. They think he's a super defensive stalwart.

I had in no order

McDavid
Panarin
P. Kane
Draisitial
Josi
Carlson
Hedman
Malkin
MAckinnon
Kucherov

Mine is similar, but I actually rank Mackinnon #2 behind McDavid. I'd also rank Hedman and Josi above Drai and Panarin.

McDavid
Mackinnon
Hedman
Josi
P Kane
Draisatl
Kucherov
Malkin
Panarin
Crosby

Within 2 years I think EP will be on this list.

I get it, however you still need some semblance of a defence as well.

Hi,

New blog is up. Pondering new contracts for Petey the birthday boy and also for Travis Green.

I think it's a lot more team structure than just defence or offence. If as soon as you get the puck, you rush up ice and go for a scoring chance. Giving the puck back far too often.

The forwards and defence as a whole were too spread apart. No waves of attack and very few secondary chances.

So secret here, the D needs work. Everyone thinks it's great "the kids get a chance".

We'll see how that pans out

We will see based off what Barzal gets, but I don't think GM's will hand any player at 10m+ long term when we don't know how long the flat cap will be.

I think there was an nhl.com article last week, I'll try and fail to find it and won't post it to back up my theory.... might have been western conference only....

McDavid
Dr. Dre
McKinnon
Pettersson
I forgot the fifth one, probably Sutter.
