Provy, sanheim, Meyers, we really do have some great home grown D. Hoping a couple other prospects can come along as well. We could end up with that Nashville type unit.

The difference in pro games played, points and the current cap climate suggest he should probably get offered less than Sanheim.

Even though I feel strongly that Myers will ultimately become the better dman.

I do too.

That is the kind of player I would frankly be ok taking a gamble on. A 4-5 year deal at 4.5 say.

How many cups did Nashville win? Must have been a few, under that modern mastermind Barry Trotz?

Was just suggesting we would have great home grown defensive depth, I see you tried to spin it into a negative but what else is new.

With only 4.8 of cap space they will have a lot of trouble doing that unless they trade someone first.

I see him signing a bridge deal, 2 years at 2.75 aav. (ish)

Sorry, I don't engage in spin. I am just dismissive of lazy arguments.

The ultimate objective is to win. Those Nashville teams won nothing with great defensive depth. There is nothing to admire about them. There is nothing to emulate.

Period.

Saying that they didn’t win is the lazy argument. Being a team that had, drafted and developed many strong d men is something to emulate. You don’t do what they did with their forwards. No. And don’t blame Trotz. Minus his d his teams were pretty weak. And look at what he was able to accomplish esp on a team who wasn’t on a tight budget.

anytime you can draft and build out your D, there is something to look at. The Preds had a very small window it seems but for a couple seasons they looked like they were going to get a cup. Just shows how hard it is.

I guess we can back go back to the previous modus operandi and blow all of our salary cap on FA defenseman. No need to build and develop a stable of young, cost controlled defenseman in a salary cap world, I guess. Problem solved.

The formula to win is written. Only one team per year is allowed to follow the formula though.

The Predators issues were, they never built anything through the middle, you just simply can’t win without a #1 center, and, they were just too mediocre all the time to draft at the top where the best players are.

Agreed....the argument you are responding to is an example of a post hoc fallacy.

Nashville is a poor example. They put forward a bottom heavy team, with a very good goalie, in a defensive system.

Amd failed to win with multiple tries.

Choosing only the good part of Nashvilke and ignoring the bad part suggests they are independent. Why did Nashville not develop their forward corps? If you look at the answer to that question, I bet you will find it correlated with the development of their defensive depth.

So you are saying its not good that the Flyers developing a strong young defense core? Because, I gotta say, that is all he was saying.

Lol exactly, my direct words were Nashville type unit, as in defensive unit. Nothing to do with any other part of their team but people will do anything to try and paint our team in a negative light.
