I can somewhat agree. Winning is priority & his club is stacked & that alone is a big factor. On lesser teams his TOI would increase no doubt. The big ice game is very different from the NHL size ice hence a different style of play. More ice to roam & time to create. NHL is faster & more skills are required to be elite or top 6. East/West is much more difficult & closer proximity to defenders pressures smart play. Physicality also increases. Less time & space are where most prospects fail & is at the root of why projecting prospects is so difficult. Euros who option to go to the CHL or the US generally get a better feel & can develop better. Imo that’s a huge benefit

Yes we do & some patience is needed. One thing I feel very good about is his no shifts taken off attitude. Something JV could learn. We are steadily adding these character type players with skill. Needed for future cup runs.

Eventually I believe so. As the article said & I loosely said he has top 9 versatility. At this point he’s still pretty raw but has the work ethic & skill set to be a winger on all 3 lines. That of course depends on deployment & the make up of a line.

As I currently see it Gaudette can use his 200’ game to offset his D short comings as well as be a playmaker for him.

On the 2nd line he would be good as a shutdown winger if that is what Green opts to do for Bo’s line. He would also add to scoring.

On the 1st line which is premature imo he would be the complimentary winger that would mesh in nicely. He would need to be a Burrows type player who feeds off his linemates to best succeed.

Overall I envision him starting on the 3rd line & moves up as needed or his play dictates.

There is so much that goes into line dynamics that it’ll come down to Greens choice of how he constructs his lines.

Not sure if you mean Gaudette or Podkolzin have a 200' game and playmaker ability.
If you mean Gaudette, I have to strongly disagree, as he isn't an NHL quality centre, and is questionable NHL talent.

This is why I laugh at the heavy expectations most people put on this kid for next season.

I did a capriendly line up with Miller at C & there is now this article.

https://thecanuckway.com/...miller-third-line-centre/

I’ll wing it in my own way for my line dynamic reasons & development. See it as balanced 3 lines not lines 1,2,3. This will surely bring on some heat my way. Some assumptions are built in sorry in advance lol

Ferland Petey Boeser
Gaudette(Hoglander) Miller JV
Pearson Bo LE(Podkolzin)
Motte Beagle MacEwen(Roussel)

Petey’s line takes a hit without Miller but gets a spark plug (if healthy) to go with 2 scorers.

Miller’s line allows him to drag JV by the ear & has Hog to wreak havoc in his own way. Gaudette is in for scoring.

Bo’s line is intact after TT was injured & remains a shutdown line but can score more once Pod arrives.

The 4th line isn’t much different other than it doesn’t have to score much which it won’t.

I have other trios in mind but this is my 1st effort. TOI will be easily spread thru the top 9 & less for the 4th line leaving them to play a better role & PK duties. It allows Hoglander to force his way in & I assume Pod will slot in in May. Gaudette will have to earn his spot given Pod’s arrival & if Hog impacts. If Ferland is on LTIR options become easier.

I speak in the long term sorry. What he does if sooner is only a bonus but I’m in no rush.

I would like Benning to hire a better head scout than Todd Harvey.

Listening to Brackett talk about the prospects was 100% better then Harvey who sounded like he had never even seen them play before.

So 33 pts, with very limited TOI in less than 60 games is questionable? He was on pace for 50 points lol

What are you expecting?

5v5 production and not getting caved in every shift. He is terrible defensively

I agree with this.

Gaudette is overrated by most Canuck fans.

He's 24. I wonder how much of an investment they should make on his development into a two way player? That part of his game is poor and he seems better suited on the wing at this point. Do we sit back and say wait til he's at least 26 before it's decided if he's a fit? This team needs better sooner....

Insulated minutes & not counted on for his defence. Explains his small contract no?

Gaudette with better 2-way 200’ wingers would go a long ways in helping him. He still must pick up his D & be more consistent to be dangerous. As a C it’s on him to lead his line.

??? Petey Boeser
Pearson Bo ???
Miller Gaudette ???

3 duos to start with playing in no particular order but the lions share of TOI giving less to the 4th line. In game can double shift Miller & Petey or at least shorten the bench at times.

Goal is more balance & scoring depth with lines not defensive liabilities. PP will add TOI for the stars &/or if playing from behind at any time. Miller could play any spot on that line to suit what is needed.

Fans: Podz sucks and will be no more than a fringe 4th line pylon!

Podz goes to captain his team to an international tournament win while leading the tournament in scoring...

Same Fans: Just joking. I knew it was a great pick all along. Exactly what our team needs.

Naw, same fans are still calling him a bust.... I think he's gonna be a solid top 6 who already has a great skillset for our third line.

Once he gets here a skills coach & Petey can help him. Bo has moves to teach also. Miller will take him under his wing. JV will sit back & scratch his head.
