I all know that -- I was just pointing out that - even if 'normal practice' it would be obvious to change the fact that mail-in votes can still be counted 7 days after the national elections. (would be normal to change that mail-in votes should be received latest the day prior to election day).
- MaximusAurelius

This. Votes should be counted by the rules of the state. But allowing mail-ins to be received after election day is simply a bad rule.

What is gong on stinks - regardless of who ends up winning. The result is going to be tainted. Too open ended.

When you add in Joe Biden getting a record number of votes; despite losing votes in dem strongholds, - 840K (10%) in cali, 311K (19%) in MD, 192K in Illinois, 865K (19%) in NY and 356K in NJ - then it really has a bad smell.

Throw on winning/close to winning in states the Dems lost last time like Georgia, Michigan, AZ, NC and Wisconsin with a higher vote count than the Republicans had winning the state in the last election. It is a rarity for that to happen. Happening 2 or more times has a rancid stench.

Throw on some poop icing of calling a still open overall congress race before half the states were closed; and we have recipe for fraud.

That might have happened if the election had been a clear repudiation of Trumpism but he exceeded his vote total from 2016. Moderate Republicans (whatever that means) are either going to have to grow a spine or wear a very ugly mark in history. This is especially true since it looks like they will control the Senate. McConnell has already signalled he won’t play ball in Biden Cabinet or judicial appointments. Biden signalled he wants to work with Republicans. Mitch is going to tell him to (frank) off.

Maybe ...but McConnell and Biden did a lot of business together under the Obama years. Alot .... Sure, the Senate won't play ball but the make deals and they won't be driven by Trumps emotional short-sighted leadership.

I'm more optimistic about this if Trump loses.

Republicans always go on about mythical voter fraud that never materializes. Trump was so pissed that Hilary outvoted him he set up a commission to find proof of all those fraudulent votes. They found zip. Every study has shown negligible voter fraud election after election. It serves to support efforts to suppress the vote because we sure don’t want “them” voting.

You can think what you want, it doesn't matter. If a states law allows for a vote to be counted as long as it was made and dropped into the mailbox prior to the election day deadline, I as a citizen would expect my vote to be counted. That's democracy 101.

Especially when trumps buddy at the USPS is losing ballots by the hundreds of thousands. Or does that not count as a legitimate complaint because it benefits trump?

Under the proposed Biden tax plan, you won't have those 2 cents.

And you won't be allowed to add them in the first place, because no free thought will be allowed.

And you can forget about celebrating Christmas.

It will be really, really bad, until a plucky band of high school kids from Colorado, including Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell and Lea Thompson decide to fight back...

- Atomic Wedgie

I wouldnt hold out for Swayze, he has prior engagements.

Don’t be so sure. Rudy still might pull a big wad of ballots out if his pants.

The GOP will soon feel a sense of relief and Giuliani and Trump will be peddling their wares in far off locales with names that end in "stan".

As long as they are post-marked by election day, as agreed to by the rules of the state, there is no problem.

Otherwise, you run the risk of purposeful slow-downs in urban areas. Know what I mean?

But let's not just focus on this one thing.

The entire US electoral system is an absolute poopshow - for which both parties should be absolutely ashamed.

In a normal functioning democracy, you have a non-partisan body that governs elections - they set standards, ensure that everything is done the same, and enforce it.

The idea that a governing party controls how an election is run would be funny if it wasn't so god-damned franking shameful.

Odd that the Blues get urban votes & the Reds the rural.

$11B spent on campaigns this election cycle. That makes America the most democratic country in the world. They love their democracy so much. Nobody else buys that much democracy.

One question.

- Would 11 Billion dollars not put an end to hunger in the United States ?

It could do a lot of things. Put it this way, it would make it harder for elections to be won by those who are owed the most and who introduce policies that favour those they owe. The hungry aren’t putting up much of that $11B.

Edit:

Trump cut the US food stamp program by $11B since he’s been in power but the cost to put an end to hunger would be much more.
