Yup, when my kids ask for Mexican I don't make them a cuban sandwich.

I made/devoured the best cuban sandwich last night.

- The Law

I voted against Trump, because I oppose the border wall:

Tex-Mex is my favourite fusion cuisine.

You don't?

If it was my dad and I asked for mexican, he'd make me a cubano sandwich and tell me to eat it and shut up

Any link for that? Curious about that too.

I know he found a lot of Cuban and Venezuelan support in the FLA but I'd be curious to see the breakdown of the Hispanic vote.

This is before the election and only cites polling (which has been disappointingly inaccurate)

Couldn't find anything for after the election. But I think I heard CNN talking about it last night.

There's the Tex.

And there's the Mex.

You fuse them together with the hyphen.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Truth be told I love a taco ...it might be my "your stuck on an island food". As long as it's not some kind of gringo ground beef version.

First hit on the googles:

"Tex-Mex is a fusion of Mexican and American cuisine, largely as a result of Tejano culture (Texans of Mexican heritage)."

And as long as it isn't hard shells (which are also a gringo abomination).

Keep calling everyone who disagrees with you racist.

I read that Trump received more black and Hispanic votes this year. That surprises me. I'm going to try to understand why they would vote for Trump. You keep calling them racist.

- Leafs43

I believe everybody carries around some strains of racism. Unless you’ve been raised in some pure society I’ve never heard about, we’ve all adopted some of this growing up. What matters is what we, our actions.

I believe that enabling someone to carry out racist policies is a racist act. That’s a fairly simple concept and different than just disagreeing with me. If you don’t think Trump’s policies are racist, fine. I do.

I also said it’s critical to address the broader issues facing these people - not to stop them from being mean - but to address economic and social inequality in the US. Both parties, but particularly the Republicans have contributed to the situation they’re in. Ironically, their hero Trump (frank)ed them over.

Som both things can be true. People can carry out racist acts and deserve to have the economic and social inequalities they face addressed. The second doesn’t excuse the first

Skalapy would squish my neck between his fingers so (frank)ing fast. And then he'd back over me with his F150 dually.

I disagree somewhat... though I'd like to understand what they consider American influences.

My understanding is that it's a regional cuisine that just happened to end up in the United States after the annexation of Texas

Oh god ya.... hard chips are for dipping not spilling all over yourself.

Although I did tacos dorados for the fam one night and they were pretty damn good. Definitely not healthy though.

When I was a young man, yes.

Now, let's just say I don't get to keep it for long enough to make it an enjoyable experience.

As a foody with a particularly refined palate, hard tortilla shells are amazing when you're trying your best to recreate the Taco Bell cheesy gordita crunch at home.

Taco Smell eh

When I lived in Montreal, a last ditch stop at the Taco Smell in Kingston was mandatory because there's only two locations in all of Quebec.

Our "go to" meal when we have another family over (adults and kids) is burritos or tacos. It's great because the kids can make what they want, so fussy eaters can still get fed.

The only pain in the arse is the cleanup - because we've used every bowl we own for all the different ingredients.

Including corn. It's the secret ingredient.

I ate a lot of Fries Supreme in the early-mid 90's. It's a right of passage. And as you point out the passage opens up and shoots it out really fast.

I did a 180 when I was driving in Orleans to pick up a card box for the fiance...a (frank)ing Taco Bell/KFC drive-through. WTF? I had no idea there was even a (frank)ing Taco Bell in Ottawa.

I resisted the urge to get some pink f-grade meatslime, but one day...one day.

I recommend the dorados version if you're up for it. It's the same idea but you fry your soft shell taco once you've filled it up with goodness. It's a little tough to prevent falling out - but the crunch was awesome.
