Yeah I am on the count every vote train.

I have to admit, the fact that they cannot come up with a way to count these votes on time really makes the whole election smell.

As if it wasn't as (frank)ed up in the U.S. as it is, this election looks like legit than something a banana republic might cook up.

Mail-in ballots take more time to be processed. They have to be opened with representatives from both parties watching, signatures have to be analyzed against whatever they have on file, again with reps watching and the ballot itself has to be prepared to be fed into the machines - smoothed is wrinkled, etc.

The Republican legislatures in those three States passed laws that didn’t allow any of the processing (not counting) until the day of the election. In other States, they could do that pre-work before and they could roll out the count faster.

The US really should have an independent system like Elections Canada that sets boundaries, oversees elections, etc.

I imagine the volume and disparity between laws of different states makes this prohibitively difficult.

it is the correct solution however. This system is a mess. They are inviting problems.
