Might as well build the whole roster:
Barber-Clarke-Kerr
Leclair-Lindros-Recchi
Propp-Macleish-Tocchet
Giroux-Couturier-Leach
Howe-Desjardins
Pronger-Dailey
Timonen-McCrimmon

Seriously. Everyone sucks so bad that the level of holier than thou ignorance on the hardliners of each side has long since surpassed nauseating. Team asteroid all of the way because it’s what is deserved at this point.
The Malkin suggestion has some merit. Malkin has the body to blend the size with over the top skill, but the mentality is completely different. Malkin can go after and engage when Hes pissy. Lindros indiscriminately punished simply because you were there. Ovechkin brings some of that, but with less overall skill/center ability, obviously - stayinthefnnet
There has always been fringe elements everywhere. Some are intellectuals, some are criminals, some are propagandists, many are decent people worth listening to.
But its a mistake, imo, to have the fringe elements take over the center, literally or in spirit. To that end, imo people should take some pains to read news like they read the weather: as a piece of information, with no emotional baggage.
I dont think its that hard, even today.

And good call about AO, though he is a winger and seems to be physical only when he feels like it? |

I don't think people want to admit we blew our entire chance with his talent.
Not sure if it was Snider, Clarke, Clarke/Snyder, Eric himself...
We did an AWFUL job at building a complete team around him, period.
That's what hurts so much, but I am glad he is ok and back in the organization. |

I understand how great Lindros was and how loved he was. I loved that guy too. But Bobby Clarke IS the Flyers. If you, as a flyers fan, imagine your perfect hockey player, Bobby Clarke would be better. Eric Lindros was the basically a bigger faster more talented Bobby Clarke but Clarke is still better than big E. Voting for anyone but Clarke is the surest indicator that the voter didn’t get to watch the 70’s to early 80’s Flyers. - Shrike
I really think Clarke was a product of everything fitting into place, team and league wide.
Everything went wrong with Lindros.
I have seen both, and it is ridiculous to think Clarke was the better player. He benefitted from the enforcers and his all-star linemates.
Lindros WAS the enforcer and made everyone around him better. |

Even at the peak of their careers you’d be splitting hairs as to which one was better. They were both great players who played different styles. - Dave21Brown
Both were physical and impossible to knock off the puck. Both were strong playmakers but Lindros had the devastating shot and goal scoring ability that Forsberg didn't have.

Why shouldn't felons be allowed to vote?
And give it a rest about the dead people voting theory, will ya? Study after study has shown it is rare, and also bipartisan. Does it happen? Sure. There should be greater safety mechanisms which take care to not make people feel deterred.
But there is almost no evidence it is a large factor in determining outcomes. - PT21
Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time. If you feel that felons should have their rights restored, that means you are ok with them owning firearms? |

The winger thing is mainly what I meant that would always set lindros above OV. Ov is the better pure scorer, but there’s just a level of all around skill and influence that Lindros had as a center that sets him apart. I obviously was a good bit younger and didn’t really appreciate the nuances of players then as I do now, so I’m sure most on here would know 88 better.
OV can absolutely demolish people. Getzlaf was a decent one too, just not as good of a player in any area. There really does seem like to be an overall dearth of mauling, skilled centers. The game has obviously evolved, but even still. Crosby isn’t soft but that’s far from his game. McKinnon, mcdavid, Bergeron, healthy stamkos. None are like that. |

I am talking about felons who have completed their punishment, iotw, those who have done their time.
After that, they have a right to work, hold a job, own a house, need to pay taxes. Why should they be deprived of a voice in matters that concern their post punishment lives?

#88 today would see a lot of stuff like he faced in the 97 Finals. LOD was stymied by clockwork defensive support and stick checks. Size doesn't confer the same kind of advantages that it used to when play was a lot more 1v1 and you could physically impede and interfere in the ozone. - Tomahawk
You have to have the horses to do that to that line. One team was able to pull it off and if you played that series 10 times, how many would have a different outcome? Size and strength along the walls and around the net definitely confers a huge advantage in playoff hockey.

Which player playing now is the closest in style to Lindros?
For me, Getzlaf (size, physicality, skating, though less skill I would say) and Malkin (size, skill, hands, though not the key trait of physicality of course) come to mind. - PT21

No, just trying to kidnap/murder the governor of MI.
Or surrounding and terrorizing opposing campaign bus.
But yeah, the limited rioters were the entire left. - DrMidnite
Sorry no. Bernie supporters. But you wouldn’t know because you sit on Don Lommons lap.
As far as the bus goes. Sorry but no. Guess who caused the accident? Biden supporters . |

There is a very long history of right wing wacko (including Waco) violence in this country. Tim McVeigh alone killed more people than all anarchists in the past 30 years. More recently, remember the woman who was run over at Charlottesville?
And those guys who loot/burn etc are no more representative of leftists than Al Qaeda is of Islam. Usually they are just criminal low life that use protests as a fig leaf, or anarchists, who actually dont vote at all.
Switch off Fox News, grow a brain, and then tell me who comes closest to Lindros today.

The Flyers complete lack of investing in solid defense and goaltending in the 90s was infuriating. It seemed like they were always trying to cut corners on the backend. |
