There is no saviour. "The Last Samurai" refers to the death of the anti-modernist movement of noblemen. Hence why it is "The Last Samurai" and not "That American Guy Who Helped Japan Modernize Militarily."

He was yes, in that specific version of Batman. I think Bale nailed a modern version quite well.

Kilmer was a good batman but crap Wayne. Clooney was a great Wayne but crap batman. Keaton did both well and Bale did both well in that version.

Just like how each joker was great in that cinematic version.

Not sure how Matthew Perry opening them to modern Western military equipment and personally taking on a role to train the Imperial Army in Western military operations which transformed Japan from a backwater Feudal society to what would become the Colonial power of note in the East and the country that became the first non-European power to defeat a colonial European power (Russia) in an outright war in the 1800's. is "greatly overstated."
