I can appreciate your POV, however, I think for me where I was less inclined to extend Miller a 2nd chance, was when I learned the person he was targeting was developmentally disabled.

Obviously, bullying is bad on it’s own and we’ve probably all done something we’d like a do over on from high school; but I think you’ve got to be pretty (frank)ed in the head to target a kid with these issues.

From things I’ve read, his time spent with a therapist seemed to indicate there was no learning, growth or remorse on the part of Miller.

It also seemed like the things he did were done merely for damage control to protect his opportunity to get a shot at playing college/pro.

Idk, ordinarily I would probably agree that decisions made as a HS’er shouldn’t effect your future to make a living; but in the case of Miller I disagree.

I general I think most people should be given a second chance, but there are some acts that are too heinous to warrant one. Without diving into the details of the situation I can see how people might think Miller deserves a second chance. But a quick read into things and its apparent that he’s had multiple opportunities to improve himself but hasn’t. I suspect the letters to the 31 clubs is all about establishing a hockey career and not being truly apologetic. Miller’s acts were despicable and I hope he sees the error of his ways and makes amends (properly) with the Meyers-Crothers family.

My issue is that this wasn’t only the candy issue issue - that’s the one he got caught for - this was bullying and racial taunts that had continued for a period of time leading up to the candy incident (and even after).

Which brings it back around to, but wait there's more. I mean if the state of Arizona Or North Dakota don't want anything to do with him that says a lot. I understand going to bat for certain things but for me this isn't one of them, this is his path and he's going to have to figure it out.

Hawks fourth round pick from last year´s draft Antti Saarela has started strong his season in FEL. Had a rough season last year and admitted that he did come with wrong attitude to Ilves Tampere. This year he has played relatively small role in Ilves but he is big part of their successful fourth line. His club is second in standings and there are a lot of players loaned from NHL clubs in his team. Barrett Hayton played his first game this weekend with Ilves btw. Hayton? Yes, Hayton.

Last year he had 4+8=12 points in 40 games. This year playing in fourth line he has 2+7=9 points in just 12 games. He is expected to represent Finland in U20´s this year just like last year but that tournament was also disappointing showing from Saarela.

He did have his moments last season but this season he playing much better and with consistency.

I always tried for 28 as a kid due to Steve Larmer. When I moved to defense, I briefly wore 4 because I used to watch home games with my dad at the same tavern as Moose Vasko and he was good to me. Later I usually took 8 if 28 was not available; a perk of being captain in college was picking my number - ensuring 28.

That's awesome you were team captain in college. That's an honor in itself. Up there if not higher than getting to wear your favorite number.

Thanks for the intel on Saarela. From the footage I've seen so far, he's been showing a great transition game to commit to defense and jump into plays offensively. Very quick and fluid skater. Great shot and good vision to find the open teammate.

Russian website Championat is reporting that Mitchell Miller may move to Russia and likely into the SKA organization after he was removed from North Dakota's hockey program and his rights were renounced by the Coyotes.

Bears continue to prove they're the worst coached team in the league. Well 2nd worst as long as the Lions are around.

If I were in charge (god help us), Wims would have been cut before he even reached the locker room.

Kid basically had a career ending injury. Bears gave up on him. Worked his ass off almost two years in Dallas to come back.

In the early to mid 90s, I needed to be Tampere 4 or 5 times for work.

I always stayed at the Hotel Ilves.

Great bar in that place, open to all hours of the night, and I was a youngster in a city with more females than males

Not sure they are better coached than the Lions.

Problem is with his record, they won't get rid of Nagy for at least two more years.

I'm much more excited about the Hawks rebuild now, then the Bears. The Bears are toast for 5 more years.

New blog! A look at how the Blackhawks could manage the lineup if the NHL has a compressed schedule for 2020-21. One idea requires applying a postseason feature to the regular season.
