Sean Connery, the best Bond, dead at 90. RIP 007.

A classy tweet from Roger Moore:

How infinitely sad to hear the news Sir Sean Connery has passed away. He and Roger were friends for many decades and Roger always maintained Sean was the best ever James Bond. RIP

Hasn't Roger Moore moved on to his next life? Wonder if it's from his family

Moore was the one I really grew up with. He had a couple decent pics, The Man with the Golden Gun is probably my favorite and then Live and Let Die or the Spy Who Loved Me. Moonraker might be the worst Bond movie ever.

I like the new guy too. Casino Royale was pretty good.

But Connery will always be Bond I think for most people. All great but I really liked Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice.

Ok, Diamonds are Forever wasn't so great so his initial instinct to vacate the role was probably a good one.

Yes, you are correct.

Moore’s best role was “The Saint” on TV - still watching the reruns today.

Out of curiosity, how did you become a Blackhawks fan living in Connecticut over other teams on the East Coast?

If I remember my history, the Whalers didn't become an NHL team until the mid 70s but can't recall when they started in the WHL.

Theo
It was the uniform!!, Tony Espo's cool mask!!, watching Hull on TV, had 3 older brothers who also played hockey as did my dad in 1938, one was also a Blackhawk fan, another a Bruin fan (Orr) and my dad and other brother Ranger fans so pretty intense when our teams played each other!

Whalers started out in Boston area before moving down here, when they came into NHL it was great and easier to see my Hawks, rememberer one Saturday afternoon game in Hartford , it had to be more Hawk fans then Whaler fans! It was pretty funny!

I did too. Remember seeing several at the theater. Thankfully, I didn't make it to Moonraker. That and A View to a Kill have to be among the worst of the franchise.

I love watching some of the Moore movies now and checking out all the '70's influences...leisure suits, Casio digital watches, etc.

I was young enough to think that Moonraker was very cool. Bond in space!?... with lasers!?

RIP Sean, he was the best.

I had to wait for them to come to tv, i was to young to go to the theaters in the 70s, especially since they were mostly drive inn's near me. My 1st indoor theater i went to was when a friend's family brought me along to see Star Wars.

I am a bit disappointed they keep pushing back the release date of the new Bond movie

At the time that was cutting edge special effects, but when you see it now, it definitely hasn't weathered the test of time.

The headlines should read James Bond passed away today at the age of 90.

It looks good and has Ana De Armas

She and Craig were both in Kinves Out which was really good if you haven't seen it.

I know...even the first Star Wars, though I still like that movie. Saw that at a theater over in Rock Island, where my folks are from. At the time it was pretty amazing.

I had season tickets in the early to mid 80’s, my then girlfriend who eventually became my wife was a big Keith Brown fan, she always thought he was cute. I liked Brown as well (as a hockey player), but I always wanted more from him. He was strong and fast, but he never got to the level that I envisioned, too bad.

Great guy, one of the most compassionate and benevolent persons you could ever meet. But had the lowest % body fat in the league so he was always hurt. Especially his shoulders. He had a great stride that was rarely used as a D man. No surprise to me he is now a pastor in Florida somewhere.

All I know is Stanbo can’t have any of those complete whiff drafts going forward...not that he has. Only true first round whiff was McNeil.

Makes you wonder if their was a different coach in RFD at the time would it have turned out differently.

Not the biggest Bond fan, but I always was very entertained by Sean Connery. If bored and looking for a movie to watch try Finding Forrester.

This for sure.

Before Mike Smith drafted the Russians that year he sent Savvy over there to scout certain players. He came home and said never again. The hotel rooms were crawling with bugs and the players he was sent to scout were (frank)ing horsepoop. I forget which one he said was so drunk he kept falling down and Smith drafted him anyway.

The OHL has made a statement that bodychecking will not be permitted in games this season. Not sure if the WHL, QMJHL, or other junior leagues have made decisions but this will be interesting.

Is that board contact checking, as opposed to in front and mid ice collisions?

Talk about opinionated!

I was very upset when the starting goalies were no longer the guy wearing #1.

To me this doesn't make any sense. I don't know much about the league, i imagine fighting would be the 1st to go
