You've made a bunch of really good points Flacco 👍

All 3 teams under "bad management " should have a spot available for the kid. Well at least buffalo and Chicago. Easier teams for kahun to earn a roster spot? With less competitive rosters? But nope.

Hall on the other hand was #1 over
League mvp in his second stop
Landed in a worse and cheaper run organization in az
And now buffalo

Big difference, and 8 more years of the nhl to boot

Not sold on joker, you guys fall in love quickly . He hasnt proven anything yet?

Some nerd please help me understand with underlying statistics?

- Boss34

I believe COVID has had a huge effect on the market place.

Kahun managed to get a contract before Hoffman, Granlund, and Haula.

Does that perhaps say something as well ? Too early to tell.

In terms of Joker, he’s done very well considering his age. He reminds me of Teppo Numminen

I like Joker. You can't love VO as much as you do and give anyone else grief! At 21, I think he's already the better player.

I feel like we're growing apart, Maybe we can still discuss hockey, but it might be best that we both discuss hockey with others, but remain friends.

All kidding aside,

Olofsson has been part of the Sabres organization for years. So I've clearly been more exposed to him , as a Sabres fan. Been hearing about his "nhl" shot for years.
Also, 20 goals last season as a rookie was quite a splash. I'm nostalgic and like the draft stories and the 7th round underdog in him. 181th pick.

Joker, unfairly maybe, was traded for a pile of dung in nylander, by a gm that didnt hit on any trades. So it didnt start out positive for me.
He looked steady, but really didnt stand out to me at the games (in person). I hope he compliments dahlin, that would be huge for the organization.

I'll keep a closer eye out next season. I do not hate him. Just not seeing the fuss.... 🤔
We did kinda suck last year, which goes against both girgs and oloffson too.

Let's compare these contracts after they are signed.
Doubt they fall under a million?

My son played agaisnt teppos son in soccer a few years ago. Lotta chatter ....
The soccer moms were pretty into teppo. 🙂

I always like hearing your perspective from seeing them live.

Joker is s guy I've liked since his draft year and the few hawks games I saw him in. He's solid everywhere at a very young age and legit forced his way into the lineup, even when it was very inconvenient for the team.

With VO, I was constantly looking to see if he could get his shot off at even strength and for anything else he did well. After a year, still have those same concerns. At 25, he could go either way.

Upgrade the goaltending and we should see playoff hockey.

The bottom 6 though and the defence corps will be the difference though between us and the truly elite.

- Pegullaville

More than likely a 42 game schedule starting in February. You say upgrade the goaltending but why would sign Ullmark then. He will probably play close to 30 games. I can’t buy any thought that there will be any change in the goaltending other than Hutton may play more than Ullmark in the end.

I think we’ll see many back to backs this year.

I think we see 56 games and we’ll need a goalie that can play 20-22 of them.

I don’t have confidence in Hutton playing 20 games and us doing well unless we are scoring 5 goals a game

Man this offseason has sucked. All our GM has done is traded for a 2nd line center, acquire the best UFA, and revamped the bottom 6. (frank)!!!

Who's getting upset? It is a hockey discussion board for posters to share their opinion.

- it's rather weird to me that a sports team needs the ultimatum from their Captain and best player to finally be energized about winning.

- the whole, "hold on" other teams need to make a trade montra seems rather shallow to me when one looks a bit deeper...the Sabres require a Money in / Money out deal to effect change. If their trade targets are trading players to to shed salary ( see Tampa) and to acquire futures in return so as to become compliant themselves...how exactly does that work for the Sabres? I'll tell ya how...not very well. If, for example the Sabres want to dump between $4 and $9m in RhD worth off their roster to secure a LhD and a Goalie, how do they do so if the other team is also looking to shed salary...i.e. Sabres want Kuemper, AZ wants to dump his $4.50mSalary and Cap ... how do the Sabres manage that exactly? ...The Sabres absolutely must shed salary to acquire talent at need positions now. I just don't have high hopes that in reality it works out for this season. There are about 4 teams with enough Cap space to help the Sabres once they retain and sign their own RFA's..and I don't see them exactly extending an olive branch to a desperate team needing to make moves ... that life vest they are throwing you is actually a boat anchor.

- UFA 's for the Sabres are freakin done..the fact the UFAs are at reduced prices is great...except the Sabres cannot take advantage unless they themselves shed salaries...who is going to help them ( look out for that incoming "life preserver")? Who is able to take on Risto so the Sabres can sign Hoffman as an example...no one.

I like the optimism.
But reality is a bit different...just like last year, and then year before.

- IonSabres

The entire premise of everything you’re saying is wrong
We currently have 3.5mil in Cap room

Idk.... seems like some feel all the moves in the NHL are done

Or maybe it’s just other teams that can still make moves???

I think you are smarter than that. Hutton playing 20 games is bang on and his career stats will back up a 12 and 8 record. Can Ullmark play the remaining 36 games and put the Sabres in the playoffs? I’ll say yes. To bring in another goalie is not going to happen.
