It seems a fact that some do not believe special teams matter but mid level wingers who sign for 975 grand on their 4th team in 3 years are the be all and end all for Sabres dominance. The coach, GM felt the need to try to plug the PK dyke instead of signing the 175 pound nomad player. It's really healthy to move on from that player and to not to give three sh*ts about him.

Next, goalie upgrade. Why does everyone think that this is it with the team moves? FA and the draft period are not the only time trades are made in the offseason.

- GilPerreault11

I'm guessing the free agent waters haven't settled enough yet for teams to make trades.

Kuemper or raanta seem like a likely target.

Other teams are still signing players , and may open up more cap space/ less cap space.

The season doesn't even have a start date yet, but we're done, the roster is set in stone.

You vented after the Staal trade many times saying that was it, the only move that KA was going to make and then Hall. I said before that to be patient that weekend not having any inside info just common sense saying they were not going to go into next season with basically the same team.

Well, I don't think they are going to go into next year with the same goalies with that talent in the top 6/9 so be patient.

- GilPerreault11

I'm going to assume the team will keep the same goalies until they don't actually have both still.

I also will assume Adams is pretty bad until he makes moves that show otherwise.

I'm not going to be honey potted by Sabres embedded, or his press conferences like you simpletons (This is a joke)

The last 2 GM's came in and said the right things and did the opposite. He did just that at the draft. Krueger coaching Hall previously changes nothing for me yet.

The Embedded episodes made me believe he does have the smarts to be good at this job one day. His inexperience, though, is going to cost this team in the short term.

They probably will keep both. They signed Ullmark to start, and who the (frank) wants Hutton in an oversaturated goalie market. Maybe if a team loses a goalie along the way, they can get a pick for him and call up Johansson if they really wanted to.. but why.

People praised the last two GMs at their hiring, and they did nothing short of jack poop. There's optimism that the new boss isn't the same as the old boss. You haven't seen enough. And that's fine. I've seen enough to not feel the need to crucify him, yet. We can both agree more must be done to the defense.

Fun fact 2:

Buffalo offered him a 2 year deal at 2.8m before UFA. He wanted over $2m per year. He signed for 975k. Misjudged market

- turbo044

For both sides right.
Kahun was off $1.1m
Sabres were off by $500k

I think hutton sticks around, depends in his relationship with ralph. Is Hutton a good "team" guy., apparently.

Shortened season to 40- 50 games, he may start only 10- 12 games? Go 5 -5-2 ? Fake .500. Wouldn't kill us.

Hutton rebounding and out-playing Ullmark isn't all that farfetched either.

I praised both hires. Both were awful in the end.

I think the job itself is over rated to be honest

Saints qb situation- older male pattern baldness hall of Famer, guy that stole crab legs and signed for 1 million and Tyson slash Hill.
Rb - that's gonna get paid big $, tons of mileage already
Wr- 1 fantasy point this season, punched teammate at practice.

Bill's- qb rookie contract still. Top 10 qb
Rb - (2) 3rd rounders on rookie deals with upside
Wr. Diggs at 10 million, brown and Beasley good short term smart $ deals
Wr - 4th round stud.

- Boss34

4th round stud very well could have cost us that game yesterday... Catch the damn ball!

He might be great. What is an immediate turn off is what he did at the draft. It was a total -the moment being too big for him- event.

He preached numbers based, data driven approaches to roster/drafting, and then immediately

- Tried to trade out of the top 10 (numbers say you get the best value in the top 10)

- Was trying to move back into the first (Numbers say late twenties picks and picks in the 30's are pretty much the same) and if he had his way he would've made that NSH trade and moved picks 37+38 to get JJ who fell to 34.

Just an overall bad performance, not even including taking Quinn who's ceiling was lower than Perfetti or Rossi

I'm not going to sit here and say I wasn't shocked when we did not qualify him but at the end of the day Kahun is on his 4th team in 4 years, that can't be because he is view as a good player.

I am happy with what the Sabres have done, Staal was an outstanding trade and directly addresses a need at #2 center, and I literally shat myself when Hall signed here. there is your scoring winger help to balance out the lines better.

If the goaltending and special teams are average there is no reason this team should not be competing for a wild card spot.

This is just not correct

Max Domi is on his third team in three years

Brandon Saad has now been traded three times in 4 years

There's a ton of guys who move around every year who are considered "good"

ATTENTION DATGUY :

There’s no question Kahun provides more offensive upside than role players such as Girgensons and Rieder. However, Krueger’s philosophy of building a roster does not involve wanting the best players. The 61-year-old has explained previously that he’s searching for the right mix and prefers balancing his rosters with elite scorers and defensively responsible forwards.

“My favorite team metaphor is an orchestra playing some really deep multilevel classical music and the imagination you need to have is each hockey player being one of those instruments,” Krueger said to The Buffalo News in May. “The first violinist will be much more present than the kettle drummer and it’s also getting guys to be proud of the instrument they’re playing on our team and understanding the one will have the bigger presence than the other. Explaining to them the role they have and why they have the role of making each and every moment for the instrument you play important.

“I think that’s important when you build a team that you have the right makeup. When I was in Switzerland I never took top 12 goal scorers with the national team. There was always a healthy mix of people accepting roles and responsibilities. You need that in a good hockey team.”

If he caught the damn ball i think people would have felt a lot better about the victory. If people want to call the stripped ball lucky for the Bills, that play was equally unlucky. Thats football

we are not comparing Kahun to Sadd, Hall & Domi are we? Or are we just pulling those names out to fit a narrative?

Should Ralph be added to the bold above?

He has said all the right things, including getting Hall to sign, but unless he shows he's an actual good NHL coach, is he anything more than a quality used car salesman at this point?

He said all the right things last year, but he had several mystifying player decisions, and the team cratered again at the end of the season, to the point that they didn't even make a 24 team playoff.
