If you put the real one next to the knockoff, Im sure you can (usually its something with the stitching, numbers or letters). At a distance obviously its negligible.
However, I cant support the Chinese economy. - aecliptic
Isn’t the US in debt to China to the tune of around 1 trillion dollars??

We should do whatever we can to try and get either Chychrun or Hayton out of AZ. OEL refused to waive his NTC and Chychrun is set to make 4.6 next year. Give them 2021 1st and 3rd, Reuanen and Henriksson. They can’t take money back so it has to be picks and prospects. |

I'd love Hayton as much as anyone but the fact is he's probably the highest of their untouchables
he makes no money yet and they used a 5th overall pick on him, and passed on Quinn Hughes to do it
realistically asking them for Hayton is like asking us for Lafreniere or Kakko

Ya the proposal was for Chychrun, I think the 1st and 3rd being they don’t have either next year, plus the 2 solid prospects could get it done to get 4.6 off their books. We’d likely have to use the 2nd buyout on Smith to make it work but would give us a solid defense.

I don't see why this would happen. Why would we spend $4.6M on Chychrun? I don't deny that those pairing look pretty good, but what happens after this year? The way you have it, Johnson is the only one that moves out of those pairings anytime soon. Are we trading away every single promising defensive prospect but one? And unless you plan on moving Fox or Lindgren to the 3rd pair, limiting their usefulness, there is either $4.6 or $4.8M on the 3rd, playing limited minutes.
I don't see why NYR would do that to themselves at this point. And the thought of yet another buyout is infuriating. |

the panicking that we may go through a shortened season with a patchwork left side of the defense of Lindgren, Johnson, Bitetto, Hajek, Reunanen is very very real |

It's a concern, but I trust Lindgren right now. I think we should move ADA to the left side, and then the competition for the third left D actually becomes a plus in my opinion.
Our left side really hasn't been good for awhile, and I just don't think it will be any worse. Lindgren with another year of experience on the left might be better than anyone we've played there the past 2 seasons.

As bad as that looks, I'm actually not that concerned about it. Include Smith in the list too. The left side being so weak will force the forwards to contribute on defense. That might be a good thing for the young guy's development and force Igor to be even more of a brick wall. |

Yep, I noticed Smitty's omission as well.
And I agree that ADA has to get at least a look on the left side of Trouba. So, our left side could be become ADA/Lindgren/Smith-Johnson.
To me, that is not a tire-fire situation that we need to move prospects to avoid. |

So apparently Hayton is overrated as I put a trade up on armchair and someone gave me a very in depth assessment of Hayton.
“ For starters Hayton had and has an NHLe more befitting a second round pick (10 D-1 | 20 DY | 30 D+1) and NHLe is a very strong predictive tool in itself. In terms of talent I'd rate him about a B+ or maybe a bit higher. Overall about a B prospect deserving of late first/early second selection at best.
He doesn't have the skating balance and puck control needed to drive possession nor the explosive skating ability to overwhelm NHL defenders, he would have to rely on elite linemates to create spatial breakdowns to score goals. His finishing ability is quite good but that alone only does so much. His best asset is the creative and clever way he tries to make something constructive out of every situation, it's quite impressive, but it's almost a way of compensating for his lack of high end ability. Defensively quite attentive. But again without the skating ability to truly suppress opponent offense.” |

we just have to get through this shortened season as is on the blueline with the buyout cap hits and the expansion draft concerns
look a what Carolina has done, they traded a first rounder for Skjei, and its possible they wont even be able to protect him
it's senseless to trade for a 4th defenseman we'd have to protect at this stage in the game |

If all of this is true could you imagine passing up on Quinn Hughes for this?

Im not nearly as bothered by it as so many others are, I dont understand why people are so hung up. Were not playing for a cup, we got kids to develop, and worst case we can always pick up someone like Koekker on the cheap as another fill in for the left side.
The only need that should potentially be addressed is C. |
