Does anyone here believe Hagg is a better player than Ghost?
- Striiker

I don’t know about better but I certainly trust Hägg more than Ghost. I suppose it depends on what you value more at the defense position. A defenseman not very good in his own end but can score flashy game breaking goals or a defenseman who can actually play defense shift in and shift out.

Hagg plays "defense" shift in and shift out?

Yes. Not as dynamic a or fancy with his skating, but Hagg gets the job done as a third pairing guy.

Ghost has too many deficiencies to his game, and that is why he sits in the press box.

If Gostisbehere can get healthy and get his game back, he is a much better player than Hagg is.

Just for emphasis...
These were Haggs numbers this year.
League-wide of defensemen with over 500 minutes at 5v5:
183 of 197 in CF%
170 of 198 in xGF%
189 of 197 in CF/60
143 of 197 in CA/60
181 of 197 in xGF/60
113 of 197 in xGA/60
197 of 197 in CF%rel
193 of 197 in CF/60rel
197 of 197 in xGF%rel
191 of 197 in xGF/60rel
1 of 197 in PDO (aka luck)

Hagg is one of the worst in the league, if not the worst, at his position.

There is not one single argument in favor of Hagg being even a decent player, let alone even remotely close to as good as Ghost. And that applies in all three zones.
- Striiker

Wasn't asking you to correct my opinion.
I would rather Hagg play than Ghost...the coaching staff saw it the same way.
A defenseman who plays defense, or a forward, marked as a dman, who can't play the position.

misguided stats snipped

- Striiker

A guy like Hagg is always going to give up more shots, both because his game is preventing those shots from turning into goals, and because he is poor at getting the puck out.

Shots don't win matches, goals do. And the bottom line is that is what counts.

I know +/- is a flawed stat, but over a long enough period of time, it is revealing, especially when you are on the same team.

Here are regular season stats for the past 4 years, which cinludes Ghost in his prime.

Guess who is 3rd best, and first among defencemen. And guess who is 2nd worst and worst among defencemen?

Last response. The team did not state that Patrick had a childhood issue with migraines. That is false. You don't have a grasp of the record on who said what and what was said. That is clear with every post you make.

NEW YORK -- Nolan Patrick is week to week for the Philadelphia Flyers and will not be able to start the season at the 2019 NHL Global Series.

The forward has a migraine disorder, and Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said they haven't decided if he will be placaed on injured reserve or long-term injured reserve.

"He's taking the medication now and we're hoping that settles down the migraines and gets him to feeling 100 percent from a health perspective," Fletcher said Thursday prior to a preseason game at the New York Rangers. "After that, he's skated a bit but he's essentially missed all of training camp. He hasn't played games. He hasn't been in any battle drills. We're going to have to make sure we get him the conditioning work he needs. Hopefully by the time we get back from Europe we'll have a better sense of where he's at from a health perspective and after that if it's all going well it's just a matter of conditioning."

Philadelphia opens the season Oct. 4 against the Chicago Blackhawks in Prague. The Flyers leave Friday for Switzerland, where they will play against National League team Lausanne on Monday, and Patrick will not be on the trip.

Fletcher said Patrick notified the Flyers in June that he was experiencing headaches. They worked with Patrick throughout the offseason to try to get to the root of the problem, consulting various medical experts, including a neurologist. They were concerned because the headaches came on randomly.

"That was the confusing part of it from a medical perspective, but we consulted a lot of different people and I think we feel we're in a good place medically," Fletcher said. "We'll hope for the best."

Fletcher said the 21-year-old has a history of migraines from when he was younger. He said there is also a family history of migraines and added that the doctors do not believe the headaches to be concussion-related.

"At this point I think he feels relieved to know what it is," Fletcher said. "The doctor feels that there's a regimen he can put him on with medication so we can control the situation and we're hopeful."

Patrick had 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 72 games last season. The No. 2 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, behind Nico Hischier of the New Jersey Devils, has 61 points (26 goals, 35 assists) in 145 NHL games.

Still waiting for mjl to respond. Indisputable proof against what that twit said. But we will wait. Notice date of article and what fletcher said. Or does that not constitute the team saying nopa family history and childhood migraines.

So the Coyotes forfeited their second round draft pick # 49 due to predraft scouting violations, now today they are renouncing their 4th round draft pick Mitchell Miller because he bullied a disabled kid. Good lord, not exactly a strong draft.

Hard to compare the two. I think every team could benefit having guys with either of their skillsets. That is when both on their game.

Generally I don’t care. I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me or even calling me out but I do have a problem with the mjl types that spew opinions and tell you you that you base your opinion on false narrative or untrue facts.

I don’t know what any of this means. It’s just a bunch of numbers and short letters. What I do know is, the only things that matters. Our coach trusts Hägg over Ghost and Hägg is a plus player. Ghost isn’t. In fact, Ghost is a huge minus.

I wish they'd move back to Quebec City. I went to a game as a kid at Le Colisee. It was a great enthusiastic hockey city.

I can’t see them in Arizona for much longer. I was out there for a business conference in season last year. In 4 days I didn’t see a single person wearing team merchandise. Just saying.

I tend to agree. People who are a lot older than 14, have been give second chances.

Hard to compare his point with nicos. Nico playing first p p and with better wingers due to the devils going through a rebuild. Had patty played first line minutes all year guessing his numbers would’ve been a little better. Also patty is advance defensively. He will be back.

And it’s a dead horse now. Will you return and say it was a good pick if Nico has an injury that changes his career?
