My mom was in a fetal position for about three centuries/years (feels/Real).
I had her warehoused.
I consider this to be the worse circumstances of my life. You love them but you would prefer them dead. So you put them in the best environment possible and their bodies fight and struggle to stay alive as long as possible.
I visited about two hundred times +. I bought her a stereo and made it so it couldn't disappear. I bought clothes, got her hair done bi-weekly, nails. She just shrunk and shrunk in her mind and body until there was literally nothing left. It was a painless passing for her and took but a moment.
For me the pain began when she couldn't respond to my chatter and then it became worse when she didn't seem to be able to care to.
I want a dissecting aneurysm.

I am glad you are alive and kicking and are not still talking morbidly about leaving more Social Security funds for us any more.

There is a well known doctor and ethicist (one of the architects of ObamaCare and Rahm Emmanuel's brother) who wrote a provocative essay about old age and death a few years ago.

For those interested, here is the link. If you have not read the Atlantic recently, it should be accessible. if you have, just open a browser you don't use all the time, clear the cache of cookies etc., and you should be able to read it.

My mother is in the final stages. She no longer recognizes anyone including my sister who she lives with. She has created an alternate reality where she was never married nor had kids. It happens very fast, like within the past 2 years.

lost my mom two years ago to dimentia. Its very hard to watch. Such a classy lady reduced to what she was at the end. It was tough to watch my dad deal with it and the scars that it leaves. She did recognize me till the end and always seemed happy when I got up to see her, but it truly is a horrible disease.

Reminds me of that Star Trek episode with David Ogden Stiers where the planet killed all of their elderly when they reached a certain age.

I agree, unfortunately Lindros and Clarke just couldn't get out of their own way.

So sorry to hear this. My father had dementia the last several years of his life, with it being progressively harder to communicate with him as time went on... my mother did a heroic job caring for him. One thing that came as a surprise to me is that when Dad passed away, I was still absolutely flattened emotionally... the fact that we couldn't really speak with him much was nothing compared to actually losing him.

The human emotions that you go through are a female dog. No matter how expected it is, you are never prepared for it to actually happen. I normally don't like sharing personal stuff about myself but one of the most difficult things to deal with is seeing a loved one in that condition, you have a wish that they actually pass on. So they don't have to live like that. They actually aren't living. You hate yourself for thinking that.

Did you actually read the article? The guy is hugely against euthanasia and assisted suicide. He always has been He says so.

I am a huge proponent of it personally.

We easily could've legitimately contended for the cup this year if we weren't held back by the staff.

We have gone from obsessively discussing migraines to dementia to euthanasia.

Things to look forward to

Tomorrow: leukemia
Saturday: torture.

I prefer the name calling.

In that spirit, (frank) you.

EDIT: I was joking here, in case it wasn't obvious.

Better player or better in their roles or better for us?

For me, the first one is no, the last 2 are yes.

He's by far a lot more predictable from a game by game output perspective. Depends on if the team needs a guy that only hits singles but rarely strikes out or goes yard....or do they want someone getting big HR numbers who strikes out a lot and cant field for crap. If you have nobody else that can hit homers then maybe he is the better choice for the team but if you have 2-3 guys hitting 25-35 dingers than maybe you can take the other route.

Absolutely loved the G,JJ, Hartnell line. Never a dull moment. Old enough to remember Otto from his Flames days also. Every team needs a Otto.

Yes. Not as dynamic a or fancy with his skating, but Hagg gets the job done as a third pairing guy.

Ghost has too many deficiencies to his game, and that is why he sits in the press box.

Well put.

To me, going with a guy who can go yard in the 3rd pairing but is somewhat suspect in defense is like having a PKer who is reluctant to block shots but is great in short-handed scoring opportunities.

In that role, I prefer a more conservative game.

There is not one single argument in favor of Hagg being even a decent player, let alone even remotely close to as good as Ghost. And that applies in all three zones.
