The sooner the Leafs cut ties with Finland the better, I say!

You'll be disappointed when you see the Leafs' results of the 2020 NHL entry draft

There’s no way there are fans anywhere in January. By January, they are projecting over 150,000 new cases a day

I'm sure Florida and Texas will still allow it.

At 1,000 fans, I really wonder if it would be worth it.

Added costs for security, vendors, ushers, insurance, etc.

I'm sure there's a break-even point - I just don't know what it is.

- Atomic Wedgie

The goal might not even be to break even....

They have to keep up with the other major sports.

Has anybody written about the expenses? Not sure I've seen anything written but it'd be interesting to know what teams are looking at if they don't play at all. Some significant costs even if they don't play.

I imagine everyone is negotiating every angle to keep things moving. Arena landlords, vendors, sub contractors, tv, major sponsors, etc...

Best guess is that it's just noise to defer any real decisions until the NHL has their plan in place.

You obviously know how they communicate today; both in sports and other big organizations...!

if they can allow 1000 or 2k or whatever..maybe hold a lottery for tickets, so you can buy a chance to go for a small amount.

I really dont know if that even makes sense and is allowed. i know id buy a few shots at going to some games...if its safe

Molson suggested they had a plan in place in where they'd have 4000 people in the stands.

You mean ..you hope. Are you confident the new POTUS will kick all State Government's in the ass?
- The Law

Not sure what it is I'm hoping for.

The IHME is projecting over 2,000 deaths/day in the states by mid January regardless of who's in the White House. It's hard to see how they play in those conditions. I agree that bringing in some revenues is better than none but Lebrun raised that today and said a bunch of owners were inclined not to play because they would lose more than they make. So far, Gary has convinced them that a year of no9 hockey would be a real problem;em.

just thinking out loud here

Virtual Reality --- There a camera in your seat at the rink and you put on the VR goggles on a connect to the camera and it's almost like you are at the game.

So what you're saying is, anybody wearing these thinks both the Leafs and the Habs are the best team ever?
Or the L.A. kings whenever they wear their throwback jersey

A bunch of franchises were carrying a pretty big debt load before the pandemic and they're going to be hurting. I had read that the Coyotes were valued at $300M, owed $300M and were losing $50M/year. (They were 3 months late on their rent at one point this summer.)

The League has a $1.7B available for teams (they can borrow up to $100M at lower than commercial rates) but some could go down if they lose the season.

probably be more than 1000..

Maybe 1 fan for every 3-4 seats? I'm sure they'll figure out the logistics, if they were to slowly bring fans back into the arenas. As long as they don't go all Florida, they should be ok.

Looks like they did, in 1909-1910.

And then they started winning so....
