Here’s an article about pro rata. Mike Johnson was asking Lebrun about it when a call cut out car radio. Lebrun was also talking about some owners being skittish about playing anyway.

Also, the back to play or whatever committee just formed now. But I don’t think they negotiate $

IIRC, this exact same thing happened with MLB.

I hope they finish 24th overall and out of the playoffs

As the man in the Palmy mask said in the last thread, I think the whole shebang is too heavily weighted on offence.

I prefer to form my opinions the old fashioned way: getting drunk and angry while watching a game, and then irrationally holding on to whatever thoughts I had the night before (and still remember).

So kinda how Holl is viewed as a quality 4/5D by hockey people but is viewed as a 12th D by a lot of Leafs fans Because he was forced into a number 1 role when Muzz and Rielly were injured and he didnt preform like a number 1 D would so that tainted his rep with Leafers

Some owners are already wondering about having a season when they know they’re going to lose $. So far, Gary has convinced them it’s better to play than go dark for a whole year. If they lose too much .........
- Canada Cup

If a season starts in January, they could follow the NFL lead and only have a set amount of seats available.. Maybe, something like 1000 fans in attendance.

It would still be more than what Ottawa and Florida draws in regularly but it would help other teams a little.

There’s no way there are fans anywhere in January. By January, they are projecting over 150,000 new cases a day

This is the year, Boston struggles...At least I hope so.. It's not a prediction... I just want them to fail.
- PatC80

Boston. F'n Boston. Bergeron picked 45th. Krejci picked 63rd. Marchand picked 71st.

For YEARS their first round pick they either f'd up or basically gave away (I don't know. He was a #2 overall or something, but . . .you know what, you can have him. We don't want him.). Then they draft Pastrnak 25th and McAvoy 14th. If you use Point Shares as a relatively valid way of measuring a draft pick's worth - Pastrnak was #1 in 2014 (although really Draisaitl or Point might make a pretty strong argument that Point Share isn't the BEST stat) and McAvoy was #4 in 2016.

They have done a good job of finding gems late, and keeping themselves relevant through the addition of young great players.

As with any team that's basically won it all, they're going to have to trail off eventually because you can't keep supplementing the talent at the required rate to remain successful, but Boston has certainly been a model for sustaining it.

Here’s a little (big) wrinkle in getting back to play. The MOU to the CBA that the League and PA signed said that players will receive 72% of their salary for the upcoming season.

It doesn’t say that they will receive a proportional 72% share of however many games they actually play, even if they only play one game. The League is saying, well you kind of know what we meant. The PA is saying, that’s not how contracts work.

Oh, oh Gary

After watching MLB go thru a similar "disagreement" it'll probably just motivate both sides to get back to playing asap.

I should add that I think they'll prefer playing in empty arena's over not playing at all. All the stakeholders will put something together. We haven't really seen a sport/enterprise put up the "Closed" sign yet.

frankin' Boston... In about 12 years when Chara and Bergeron both retire, they'll slow down

My father still irrationally hates Ian Turnbull. I don't know why.

Well, I remember the moment. Turnbull took a penalty and in the box he was tying his skates and my dad yells at the tv, "The lazy (frank)er just wanted to tie his skates! God I hate him!". I don't even know if the other team scored on the powerplay.

They are (frank)ed if Rask is done. Vladar is a few years away if ever. Halak is a great split starter, but he has and never will be the guy to "get it done." Their defense and offensive depth is also a bit suspect.

Still a really good team, but you can see the cracks (finally).

Bergeron is 35.

We have to start seeing at least some regular season decline no? It happened with Chara.

Bergeron will be a beast for a while but I think we start to see some decline in overall production.

You'd assume. But Marchand is getting better as he ages and Bergeron's numbers keep staying unusually up. Who knows? I'm just glad they (frank)ed that 2015 draft, they would run the NHL otherwise.

They seem like the LA Kings.

They'll start with regular season decline and will go from there. 5 years and they are in the basement

Best guess is that it's just noise to defer any real decisions until the NHL has their plan in place.

At 1,000 fans, I really wonder if it would be worth it.

Added costs for security, vendors, ushers, insurance, etc.

I'm sure there's a break-even point - I just don't know what it is.
