Love it. One of my fondest memories is hitting a patch of ice and crashing into an old lady who was slowly going 90 degrees perpendicular to the direction of the run in a location where two black diamond runs converged at Tremblant.

I felt bad at the time but in hindsight she totally deserved it.

Nothing drives me more insane than watching beginner snowboarders scraping all the snow off of a steep pitch because they don't have the ability to actually snowboard it.

Thanks for ruining the hill for everyone else.

oh I know, we already took care of it.

We also did a ton of biking over the summer, and have some old poopty bikes...started to look at new ones...and umm...for some prices I can buy a car.

prices had to jump up? we have family members who bought new bikes last fall and the same ones are double the price now.

we put off buying new ones until the spring...if that helps..probably not

- senstroll

I'm in the same boat.

The thing is, I don't want a good bike - I don't want to have to worry about it.

I'm thinking of looking on Kijiji this winter - I'm guessing there will be a few people around Christmas looking to sell off some stuff to get some extra cash.

I was thinking about it, and we'd like to do some skiing but without any other sports, I might actually get some studded tires and try my hand at some winter cycling this year.
- TheMussel

Winter cycling rocks. Especially because most cyclists are off the road.

You don't need studs necessarily though. Like for winter road, I don't use studs. Fat mountain tires on snow, sure. Lower pressure too. But I've biked all winter on 28 road tires also. Marathon tires are good though cause I'm not changing a flat in the cold.

Just had my first shingles vaccination. I watched my sister go through Shingles.... Not this guy
- bixll

Has nothing to do with age.
I got shingles when I was 36.
Stress apparently brought it on.
Still have a scare from it....and it was a mild case.

What's the deal with that again? It's the dormant chicken pox, right? So basically if you got CP watch out? If so Imma have to do that because I've heard it's miserable.

people dont have to explain why they dont want to go to a restaurant right now.
we havent been to an indoor or outdoor restaurant since the first week of march. we wont be anytime soon. have done some take out..but not much.

this is floating around and explains how things transmit, seems like a good read

https://english.elpais.co...read-through-the-air.html

one thing we have done a lot of is hiking, and plan to do snow shoeing in the winter.

also, we are saving a lot of money in fuel and food spending.

I like that article. Early on I had read a Japanese study that concluded much the same thing (opening a window) and showed particle movement and microdroplet movement and so on. I had also read a subsequent article that talked about viral particulant and how much was required for a person to likely become infected. This latter subject is a little out of my realm, but it largely broke it down as per your link - just talking, unmasked, you're probably at risk in around 5 minutes. Talking masked, it extends to maybe an hour, but if you're not distanced and are indoors, it's still a high risk. Those numbers move outwards as you apply more factors (ventillation, distance).

My problem is that I am not an outdoorsy person. As I got older I started developing more and more environmental allergies - granted October - April is usually fine. Of course my kids _also_ aren't fans of outside because of me, so . . . granted this is all stuff that drives my wife nuts. We do go for walks and such, but I will say this - I am NOT under any circumstances going snow shoeing. I remember doing that in Cubs when I was little and all I could think of was how much I wished I was dead.

About the same as someone snowplowing with skis or sliding down on their edge.
Besides, if you are switchbacking down a steep slope you'll cut through that line of scrapped off snow quickly....just might have to do several times if the boarding scrapped all the way down LOL

Ya pretty much....if had CP, it then lies dormant until something activates it.
In my case it was stress and dirty goalie mask of mine.

I fully understand your situation.

But I think it is important to realize that some have the opposite situation from you and can afford to do these things and help our struggling businesses.

Everyone has a role to play. Shaming people for going to restaurants and patios is just as poor as shaming them for not going.

We need to help each other out wether that be our physical health, mental health, or just someones wellbeing. Plenty of people are struggling out there on many different levels.

- Santo_44

I wouldn't shame people for going to restaurants. I am saying that we are in a situation where we can't take the risk ourselves.

I do think more protocols should be in place to ensure that indoor places are creating proper airflow and ventillation - not just moving indoor particles around, but ensuring that there is a dispersal method outside and a flow of fresh air from outside. It's a vague statement because it could be as simple as opening some windows or some doors, to adding a filtration system (which is much more expensive and is unlikely to be an option for most places - although it should be noted that just about every bar was perfectly capable of adding these types of systems when it meant they could create a smoking room for their patrons back in the 90s).

Places that simply can't do this should be eligible for full relief from the government, but probably shouldn't be open for indoor customers.

I have 4 inches of travel in front on extra heavy duty shock, and 5 inches of travel in the rear. Carbon fiber seat post and a wonderful seat. Like driving a Lazy-Boy

Nice.
Better hope that carbon fibre seat post doesnt break, it will slice up your thighs.
If I'm doing features on the trails than I loosen the travel and recoil to absorb when landing, if not, then I decrease it so it doesnt impact momentum and slow me down.

driving a lazy-boy would make me wanna sleep.

I had it on my face - twice. The first time it manifested as this sort of hideous red horn coming out of my forehead. At first I was joking that I was turning into Satan. It was miserable.

When I went to see a doctor to find if I was, in fact, morphic into the prince of darkness she said, "So why are you here?" I just pointed to my face, "The horn?"

And she says, "Oh. I know what that is," as she backs out of the room, closing the door, "It's herpes."

I was left thinking, "Herpes? On my face? How do you get herpes on your face? I don't even recall . . . who have I been with to get herpes? On my face."

All my biking is done on roads, so it might be a bit of an overkill.

My wife has a sweeeeet hybrid that I regularly steal - it's got front shocks, and it does make a difference.
