Uuuuuuugh. If it's only $1M, fine. I grudgingly accept. What's with all the Russians in Ottawa all of a sudden? We used to have a STRICT no Ruskies policy. Now Dorion is building team Russia: Zaitsev, Abramov, Anisimov, Dadonov, Zub, Galchenyuk, Sokolov.

I was thinking the same. There are so many good young players in the Ottawa system, this signing does not seem to make a lot of sense.

I wonder if a significant trade may be coming?

Too soon for a swimming joke. But the cocaine jokes were around for awhile.

who cares for $1M...minimum risk and maybe a nice surprise.... AG has tremendous talent but he needs to wake up, as this is his last chance to stick in the NHL!....A bit like the SENS did with Duclair.

Good move for both parties.

Ottawa has Brown playing 20 minutes a night on the wing and the PP when he shouldn't. Galchenyuk replaces what Duclair did and should be about what he did. They need the depth options to make sure they don't rush their prospects.

Galchenyuk has a chance on a bad team that needs to score to prove he's an NHLer still and not just a soft slime 2nd line winger that can't handle a check...and if he is...at least he can put up 20g 50p and get another look.

And if he can’t even do that, it’s only a million bucks, so you waive him and dump him in Belleville

I always thought during his Montreal days he was better at center, that's where he got his 25-30 goal seasons. Now unless the intention is to play Stutzle at center the Sens seem pretty thin in that department, couldn't hurt to try Gally there.

He's a good dude, so I hope he finds success, but he also had a chance to play with Sid and Geno, and couldn't do poop lol.

Great signing by Senators. If they sign Nail Yakopov and Griffin Reinhart too, they will have cornered the market on top busts from the 2012 draft.

Duclair wanted 5 mil per season.

if nobody is willing to sign him, when all it costs is money, no chance anyone was going to trade for him when it cost money AND assets to acquire him.

walking away from Duclair and his contract demands, and getting Galchenyuk (who's the same player at a fraction of the cost) was a very smart move

if you just look at the deal in terms of value in and value out, i'd do that deal all day long from Ottawa's perspective, which means that Wpg would almost surely say no. there are nice pieces in there, but none of them are "top end" pieces. I think Wpg would prefer quality over quantity, and this deal doesn't provide that.

now, if you consider all things, I wouldn't want Laine at all....based on the fact that he'll likely want 10+ mil on a new deal, and that would be a HORRIBLE contract for Ottawa to give out

As long as there's no cocaine in Ottawa everything will turn out just fine.
- hunglikeapuck

To be fair, he has probably toned it down since his days in the party mecca of Montreal. Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis are far more sedate cities....as is Ottawa. The party scene likely won't be a big issue. The issue will be his work ethic.

Daddy and family included in the package? If not, could be worth it.
