Not to be a debbie downer, but having viable alternative parties and eliminating negative partisanship would require significant changes to the electoral system as well as federal and state constitutions - TheMussel

I love a good Sandy Hook, pedophile joke. But let’s not make fun of Kazakhstan. - Canada Cup
You know, CC, one is allowed to have nuanced opinions on matters.
Let's give this theory a test drive:
Borat: His caricature is both bigoted and deeply satirical. It's both deeply problematic and also a useful tool to reveal bigotry and ignorance inherent in the system.
Alex Jones: His Sandy Hook take was beyond the pale in terms of taste and has caused an insane amount of grief for affected families. But some of his crazy rants and conspiracy theories are bonkers to a degree that is hilarious. I don't follow him, but watching a few hours of Joe poking the bear is amusing to me.
It's okay to admit that you enjoy problematic things and realize that you are a complicated person who is not immune to cognitive dissonance.
Also, I never stated that we can't make fun of Kazakhstan - I posted a tweet from Taleb who took umbrage per the apparent hypocrisy of giving SBC a pass for his caricature. I think he has a point -- but I would never try to cancel the Borat character. I actually find Borat pretty amusing but I'm not going to pretend that the character might not be deeply offensive to some.
But hey, let's pretend that somehow I'm being a hypocrite here. 🤦 |

I'm liking what Bret Weinstein's "Unity2020" movement is about. It's too little, too late at this point -- but I'm hoping, in the future, the message becomes stronger: end rigid political partisanship and establish cooperation and compromise. - mjones242

Significant change is needed. Enacting the significant changes that will be necessary will certainly be a Herculean effort.
The two party system is fatally flawed and something needs to be done before it reaches a point where civil war becomes a thing. |

Hundreds of Trump supporters were left in the cold for hours after a rally at an airfield in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday night, with some walking around 3 miles to waiting buses and others being taken away in ambulances.

Not a hypocrite but I think the Borat thing was silly. Sorry if I was too strong on that but I don’t think Alex Jones deserves a platform and don’t really respect someone who provides him one for entertainment. I think there is a huge difference between the two sets of “entertainment”, that’s all. As I said I don’t listen to Rogan or podcasts at all really so I only know him for the clips I’ve heard.

If you fellas really want to watch something that is temporarily uplifting, rent (you can get it on Youtube for $3.99) Season 3, Episode 12 of Black-ish. The episode is called Lemons.
It's quite funny, but at its heart is an honest look at the aftermath of the 2016 election, and how both sides viewed it. And although it's from the perspective of a black family, you'll be quite amazed at the very end at how balanced and fair the conclusion is.
It's actually quite inspiring. It provided hope as to how the nation could come together after Trump's election.
Sadly, they didn't come together.
But it's well worth your half hour and four bucks.
Trust Wedgie on this one. I loved the Thanksgiving episode of WKRP. I loved the Cheers episode where Coach was being scammed at cards.
But this is (IMHO) the best-written 30 minutes of TV, ever. |

It’s not so much a question of two parties versus more parties, it’s that the election process is inherently unfair and corrupt and basically undemocratic. $11 billion is being spent in this election cycle. Think about what that means about who gets owned. Unlike Canada there is no independent body running thing. Constituency boundaries are set to favour one party, voter suppression efforts mean that thousands and thousands of votes won’t be counted to help swing local, state and presidential outcomes. The US is ranked as a Flawed Democracy on the Democracy Index not because it has two parties. |

Expecting a big bounce back for Josh Anderson. We're talking 12 goals bounceback! - AdamFrench
Dont shoot so high. That would be triple his last years output. Way to overburden him with high expectations. Whats next, Matthews needs to get 141 goals?

I don’t live in Hamilton but the city is improving, it’s still relatively affordable, it’s got a cool new set of restaurants (if they survive) and more young people are moving there. |
