Hodgson was a poor skater, not the case for Pod, I’m no expert but I’m just not sold on this kid. I think it was another poor pick, on top of Virtanen and Juolevi.
- Pacificgem

Yes, garbage pick.

Why couldn't we do this? Despite his weaknesses, kid could have been a pretty good winger for Bo.

Lind will be okay, not a fair comparison.
- VanHockeyGuy

Well it's a comparison that needs to happen considering you can only protect 1.

Lind isn’t worth protecting
- CanuckDon

You would protect Motte?

I think Lind will be a good player, I really don't know what's going through Benning's pea brain these days?

JB really has two easy options right now to get cap compliant.

If Ferland can't play the start of the year, LTIR. Otherwise, like Carol said, sending down LE and Sven saves 2 mil, and voila.

Would be nice to know about Ferland, as that gives them a bit more wiggle room to add a player.

- NewYorkNuck

But if Ferland wants to play and he’s cleared, plus you just added another 1 million dollar salary, to make you 500K over the cap even with LE and Baertschi going down, presents a problem.

Id protect neither. Use the slot to trade for a player on a team with stronger depth up front

Of course – that's why they should try to get that clarity now. Would be annoying AF to have Ferland say he's going to play and then pull out right before camp.

However, they could also just send someone like Benn down (assuming they sign a D) and run with a very slim roster. This also assumes they move their team to Canada/Vancouver.

Ferland? If he's healthy and able to play, he's a great signing. If he's LTIR, it's no consequence. Just need him to figure it out right now and let them know so they can proceed.

As well, I'm starting to see what people say when they say you're just a wet blanket of a poster

I'm at a loss to guess JB's plan, if there even is one.

The guy had a significant concussion history with a HUGE buyer beware sticker attached to him but whatever other GM's make bad signings.

Why is that funny? Protection slots are valuable. Take advantage of teams with better depth

Hey, if Lind, Motte don't fit with his vision JB can let them walk or give them away.

Because we’re 1.5 million over the cap already. Having to move even more money to be compliant would be difficult given the pandemic circumstances.
- Pacificgem

Go 2.5m over with 23 man roster, paper 3 players down to AHL to save 3.15m cap to start the season and we are fine.

You are confused on who he would rather protect, Motte or Lind? Ok. Not sure there needs to be a plan regarding these two scraps. Also, why would he tell the media which scrap he is prioritizing this far before the draft?

Paper Roussell down(If he would get claimed he likely would have been traded by now) and all of a sudden we are 500k below the cap. Roussell can play during preseason and I would wager Ferland doesn't last to the end of pre season before he is out again. Now you can bring Roussell back up. If not, then you make roster decisions at that time. Gives us another player that allows us the opportunity to ice the best team we possibly can. If a 3m beagle or roussell don't make the cut, have fun in Utica(?).

I've watched Lind play several times in Kelowna, I think he's a good prospect. Trade him if you don't want/value him.

Sure, I like the kid as well. But doubt he has value. Every team has a few Linds in the farm

Asset management, 2nd round pick. Hope he gets a solid opportunity somewhere.
