seems like it. i think comcast is really going to change. it seems they figured out pretty quickly that a lot of their employees can do their jobs from home. they told everyone to stay home until october, and then said the end of the year, and now told them next june. but at the same time they had kickbro and his office come in to clean out their desks. pretty sure a lot of companies are going to save the money on renting space and all that jazz once this is over and a lot of people are going to have work-from-home jobs that they never thought could be work-from-home jobs.

My brother's company ran the numbers for their business and even after paying for home office furniture/supplies, providing a power and internet allowance and a few other working from home perks, they'll be able to give 5 to 10% raises across the board while still saving more money/earning greater profit. They surveyed they employees and their work satisfaction and overall happiness went way up working from home even before the money and allowances.

for me the big disadvantage of working from home is if I want a better job within my organization it's a lot harder to learn about new business processes without any actual human interaction. I find the learning curve is a lot different when it's not in person

That makes a lot of sense. I forgot in 2020 people could still get promoted in a company rather than having to switch jobs to move up the ladder haha. Seriously though I'd never thought of that

i doubt my job will go work-from-home because some of my bosses are cavemen (one of our bosses is extremely upset that they can't force us to come in all 40 hours per week because he's one of these neanderthals who thinks it makes him look bad to fear the virus and everybody else should be dumb like that too). but i do think a lot of people here could be working from home in reality.

yeah, I guess I'll have to adapt, but working at home makes you realize for example that there are a lot of conversations that you have with people before and after meetings at the office that can be quite valuable in terms of acquiring knowledge, and these conversations don't really happen with zoom calls since people just log in and log off for the meeting

I guess having a guy like that like Trump saying "you'll get through it if you get it" doesn't really help on that front either lol

The phony hyper machoism that's been displayed by "leaders" throughout this pandemic has been hilarious to me knowing in reality the guys displaying it tend to be (frank)ing pansies

See I'm the guy asking at the end of those calls if anybody has questions or comments and hoping desperately they don't

it definitely is funny watching those kind of guys dealing so poorly with reality now that they have to.

I'm just blown away by people who are fooled by it, aren't fooled by it but are such sycophants that they don't call it out or those that are too scared to call it out. Power corrupts so many it's sad

I'd be upset for you and her except, well, ask her how her tax payer funded pension and amazing benefits are for the job the government somehow decides to already pay above market value for? All assumptions but if she's a government employee I'd bet I'm pretty close to correct
