Well the virus is everywhere now is there really a difference between canadians and internationnal travelers at this point? - M. Arachide
So herd immunity then, why don't they just (frank)ing tell us?? |

was it with you we had a discussion a while back about the best managers being the ones who really understood people and were able to relate with them..? guess it goes back to that lol - Pat1993
Really late response but yes. I get more out of staff when I empower them and make them feel heard. Selfishly it's about profit but it works out for everybody and people seem happier |

They are trying to walk the thin wire of getting Pete's and Karen's vote at the next elections |

Herd immunity (if that could exist for this particular virus) would mean 70% of the population infected.
We stand now at 0.0059% of the population infected. We are a long way from it.
Trying to accelerate it would mean too much pressure on the health system. |

I've learned I get better results being brutally honest while trying to respect and not micromanage them. Frankly makes them more likely to be honest with me and if I'm smart enough to listen it works out well - Takemedrunkimhome
I think its the way to go, my director can be harsh but I really appreciate that he very straightforward and clear !
Much rather that than somebody that is nice but can't manage people or react to emergencies ! |

My brother has an orthesis 3d printing system that the material company wants him to export to Europe, he's waiting for the borders to open up might be a huge break for him. |

Well at least for now his clinic is open and he can see patients. He almost recovered what he lost during the shutdown.
That's a long term project that's always going to be there. Well if there's still a human civilization after this. |

Some people complained they couldn't wait to go back to the office and immediately regretted their comments. Can't please everybody but working from home for a big piece of the economy is the likely reality moving forward. |

Studies are showing pretty much everything you said. Productivity isn't negatively impacted when people work at home, they're happier, they don't waste time commuting, office politics (which is a major problem for a lot of businesses and a big reason people leave a company) are eliminated and from the business perspective overhead goes down significantly. I don't see the logic in a lot of brick and morter offices moving forward |

yeah I thought I wouldn't be motivated but surprisingly I've managed to stay productive at home... now I just got too used to waking up literally 10 minutes before my shift starts lol

seems like it. i think comcast is really going to change. it seems they figured out pretty quickly that a lot of their employees can do their jobs from home. they told everyone to stay home until october, and then said the end of the year, and now told them next june. but at the same time they had kickbro and his office come in to clean out their desks. pretty sure a lot of companies are going to save the money on renting space and all that jazz once this is over and a lot of people are going to have work-from-home jobs that they never thought could be work-from-home jobs. |

for me the big disadvantage of working from home is if I want a better job within my organization it's a lot harder to learn about new business processes without any actual human interaction. I find the learning curve is a lot different when it's not in person |
