bad character of the kid AT the time of the incident
Do we want to review all the stupid thing we did as a young teenager or what happen say 5 years ago?
Cause you know I've done some stupid things, like giving a kid exlax saying it was chocolate.
yes at the time I thought it was funny but in hindsight it wasn't. - dmnted
This.
I grew up in Scarborough...I don't remember one kid that wasn't sh1tty. You almost couldn't survive if you didn't stand up for yourself, you almost couldn't survive if you didn't join the bullies.
It was so bad that if you weren't a bully you definitely got bullied. It was one of two options.
I think back with a ton of regret and feel terrible about some of the things we did when 12-14 yrs old. I was a d1ck no doubt. Hate that I ever made one person feel bad...it was never the real me.
BUT...am I the same guy as an adult. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I wasn't even the same kid in high school as the dumbass I was in middle school.
People change, grow and get away from sh1tty environments. (and your environment determines a lot of your sh1tty ways as a kid)
Taleb has an interesting take that isn't too far from the mark (though I quibble here with the label "racist"). SBC's Borat satire wouldn't be nearly as accepted had it been born post-Wokeism. - mjones242

Well said, although I strongly doubt the bold part.

Okay, a little general and exaggerated for emphasis but it was closer than you might think... in my neighborhood at least (and it was uphill both ways to school too)

both sides are a mess right now.
if you haven't, you should watch social distortion on netflix. - Tumbleweed
I’m not a fan of either party but I find the Republicans generally hard to take in their anti worker, anti environment, anti health care, etc, etc stances. Trump, though takes things to a whole new level of authoritarianism and if he either cheats his way in or if the country is dumb enough to elect him again they are in deep trouble. He has proven that he doesn’t care about the democratic process, that he’ll use the justice system against his political enemies, he’ll try to to use the military (they will probably disobey any illegal order) and he will use government to enrich himself or to make favours to his creditors.

Not a fan of either as well.
But the dems cannot be compared to the repubicans. They're nowhere near as bad or pathetic as the repubes are now.

Meh, people said the same sh!t about Bush, and Romney/Mccain when they were running.
I agree it is different with Trump now. But people have been crying wolf for so long that a lot of people are now tuning out criticism as the same old whining about Republicans.

Kazakhstan seems to be handling it ok. They’re going with “Kazakhstan. Very. Nice.” as their marketing slogan for tourism.
