It’s essential that we give Ullmark better competition then Hutton.

Especially considering it looks like we may be opening up our style of play and playing run and gun.

We essentially played a prevent defence last year and our goaltending still killed us.

I sincerely hope Ralph does the above.

Why is any team trading for Carter Hutton after the season he had when it can use just about any goaltender prospect it has in its system and get the same results at a minimum?
- buffalofan19

A team that may value some of our prospects or one of our RHD and want to give up less value to obtain their services.

Tampa did not get over the hump until they had a defensive play and goaltending that kept up with their offensive firepower.

Dallas went to the Stanley Cup finals and scored less goals than the Sabres did this past season

We need to be able to defend regardless of how many goals we score up front.

Few things to blame last year, Tage's injury is tops on my list. That was a costly game.

Mittelstadt is the only one still unsigned.

Hutton and Mitts for Kuemper. Do itttttt

- jcragcrumple

They have been trying to trade him for over a month, Mitts has fallen in the eyes of many.

Dangerous topic, now that pretty much everyone is signed....Kahun?

Or are they just moving on?

- gcomella34

I think the Kahun ship has sailed. I liked him in the 6 games he played for us, but, he overplayed his hand. The 2 year $2.8m offer we made him is going to look a lot better than the 1 year/0.9m contract he'll sign elsewhere

I guess they really wanted to do that kid a favor by drafting him or something.

Wasn't it a fourth round?

I don't know how I feel about this. But I'm also woefully uniformed on the matter.

Have we really lost any thought around redemption for people anymore? Can they not change?

That is assuming he was forthcoming with all the information as well, which is a fairly LARGE assumption.

Why would anyone trade for and then sign Murray to a top 7 NHL goalie salary long term contract? Goalies are weird

That's a wow. So their highest pick remains a 5th rounder. Amazing.

I was in the minority when I said the Devils won the Hall trade.

Looks pretty evident that’s the case now.

I'm assuming you're a Devils fan. Any interest in my loony tunes, 3-way trade proposal? You can have Montour instead of Miller if you'd prefer.

To NJD: Colin Miller

To AZ: Carter Hutton, Buffalo 2021 2nd, AZ 2021 3rd (Currently owned by NJ)

To Buf: Darcy Kuemper

Sure, but does the construct of the team currently and ability of the players overall on the roster scream being strong defensively? It sure doesn't to me.

If you think the ship has sailed because management is determined to play both Rieder and Thompson regularly, and have Cozens as a top six RW, then agreed.

But if the team is not gifting a spot to Tage nor planning on playing Rider regularly, then why not bring back Kahun at the $.9M you just estimated?

A 3rd line that has Olofsson and Kahun on the wings, for example is a hell of a lot better and more proven than a 3rd line that contains Tage.

Part of me says "mob rule wins again".

However, I stand by my argument. If the Coyotes did their homework, and felt they could succeed despite the situation, I wasn't going to crucify them for drafting the kid. If they found out more about the incident afterwards, and felt the need to walk away, then I don't hold that against them either. I just hope it's that and not just "oh no, the Twitter mob is mad at us, we need to reverse course!"
