kahun 6 games with sabres 2 goals
girgens 12 goals in 69 games

- homiedclown

Kahun - poster just recently suggested 1 year at $900,000, but still unsigned

Girgs - 3 years @ 2.2 = 6.6

You tell me which guy has more value to an nhl team?

🛎 Hint - guy with the job

He's still unsigned...

*shrugs*

- Michael Pachla

Kahun is kind of stuck in no mans land.

He is a very good 3rd line forward who can play in the top 6 in spurts if needed to, probably wouldn’t even look out of place in the top 6 if we go by the analytics however ideally he’s a 3rd liner.

He’s also not the biggest player and doesn’t PK.

Kahun is a part of that middle class that is being shrunk out due to the fact that teams are strung for cash and will turn to players on ELC’s to fill the role he is playing.

I think his agent is failing him though or they are waiting for the right fit and I think he’ll ultimately sign somewhere for 1-2 years at $1.5M even though he’s probably worth $2-2.5M

See his last 3 weeks game stats ...... heck Ryan Fitzpatrick torched the jets while josh Allen couldn’t score a single td

Chiefs and titans game he was flat out bad. Mechanics and reads wise.

Allen’s main issue is reading zone defenses. He is flat out not good at it.

- Sabretooth9

And all the fumbles - I HATE that about him. But, he's definitely better than last year, and he's all we have now so we'll have to see if he keeps getting better. Not sure if he can...maybe this is the best he can be ?

gus jokes aside

I think the sabres need to move a body up front

if casey is ready, they have to give him a middle 6 spot
same for tage

if cozens is ready they have to give him a top 6 slot

and of course someone is going to get the synergy sobotka bump up between girgens, eakin, rieder and okposo

- homiedclown

I kinda agree with you homie. Leads me to believe they have little faith in the young guys or a trade in the works.

Seems like casey is the odd man out in a trade as well?
Tage doesn't seem like a guy we would get any return on?
Cozens off limits. - maybe back to juniors?

I wouldn't be purchasing a mitts Jersey.

Girgensons is a good 4th line winger whom has good defensive metrics.

His shooting percentage will come back down to earth unless they do intend on playing him in the top 6 like they did with Sobotka last year.

He is overpaid.

Not everything is black and white. The Oilers need a RHD terribly and gave John Marino and Jeff Petry away for basically nothing in the past few years after trading Hall for Adam Larsson. Larsson is the worst of the three d-men mentioned.

Sometimes it’s the teams tasked with assessing their players talent that are flawed and not the player himself.

Galchenyuk for 1 year at a mil

or Girgens for 3 years at 2.2 mil

I mean Galchenyuk has more then twice as many goals or points

and is a fraction of the price

- homiedclown

Don't worry, Galchenyuk will be ours eventually, since he's on pace to play for every team in the league. It's just not our turn yet.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Girgensons.

Perhaps they think he can play the “Zach Hyman” role in the top 6.

Forecheck when we are dumping it in, be the F3 when we enter with possession so that way he can cover up defensively.

It’s probably the only way he could live up to that Cap hit also.

I love these :

Of course, I liked the Islanders fisherman jersry, and anything Oregon has thrown out there, so whatevs. I pretty much like every jersey ever invented.

Anyway, yeah ... I love the new Dallas Stars jersey. Screw you.

Don't get me wrong, I was pretty sure the sabres were gonna re-sign him and was disappointed he wasn't.

There's a reason he remains unsigned, which we're obviously not privy to.

That said, these comparisons to Gus are fruitless as they're different players in different roles with the Sabres (read Ralph) placing an emphasis on his role.

$2.2m sux and why they did it is really unfathomable, however they have their reasons even if we can't figure out exactly what they are.

He is overpaid- Not everything is black and white.

They paid him accordingly. He outworked and outplayed his "show me" last deal. He showed them and you, 12 goals in a girgs friendly system.

You pay the guys you want to keep. Ufa made it a sticky situation. He's going to suprise you.

I'm already ready for the denial.

Girgs plays pp1 minutes and is a steady force with hall and eichel. They do all the work. Bla bla

It's almost like the Sabres are trying to form a new identity. Tougher to play against. Hardworking, blue collar team/ with some high end talent.

No way in hell Kahun cracks the top 6 with the top 7 players we have. Holy cow. People are franking brainwashed by analytics.

It’s funny. Kahun played 6 games for the Sabres and he’s anointed the next Jesus Christ.

Eakins who played a great 6 games with the jets. Sucks and is the worst player ever.

#analytics

- Sabretooth9

It’s not even analytics.. 5v5 he scored and had more assists then VO and wasn’t attached to Eichel. Sorry, Kahun is a good player, why he’s unsigned is a mystery to me. Unless he’s asking way over market (certainly possible) someone will buy low for prolly a two year deal and be completely happy with him. And he can certainly challenge the following: VO, Cozens(not long term, at least we all hope), Tage. And at worst he’s a good 3rd line winger. What’s wrong with having good players?

Absolutely:

I think the big difference is , posters wanting to give sam 7+ max length. What a joke 😀

Olo 3.3 a year?
Sam 7 a year
Skinner 9 a year

All gift wrapped by jack eichel. No argument here.
The more pp1 with eichel the more inflated the stats.

I like the reinhart deal better than girgensons believe it or not. Giving The Sabres and agents had the ability to feel the market Between the 2 signings.

- Boss34

I hate Sam's deal. It was time to make a decision on him and they passed. They'll be right back in the same position next year, but Sam will have significantly more leverage.

I think VO will be below 3. Close to Ullmark.

The Sabres will have that without Kahun and be just fine.

Stop being blinded by chad D and his advanced stats.

While advanced stats are nice ..... they are not all being.

- Sabretooth9

Olofsson - Eakin - Thompson is a strong 3rd line?

What they did with Reinhart feels like continued indecision, just like Ristolainen.

2 ships sailing different directions in the night

Olo for under 3? Have many years?

Sabres have handled the last 2 sam contracts impeccably. If he breaks thru, pay him.

I see him being the Seattle pick . After playing 2nd line minutes.

Nothing, but there is a salary cap, roster size limitations and certain roles that need to be filled.

Exactly. Very easy to see them both walking into contract years next year, heading into UFA. So many ways that can go wrong.
