you are correct boss

the biggest issue with the sabres is sam reinhart

put him on any other team and he puts girgenson like numbers

- homiedclown

I am being told that is "good" though. So maybe we should put him on another team.

He posted this for the past 6 months ( sam and long term 7 plus million) priority #1

How stupid can you be? His posting of insider information was DURING covid. Not prior.

I posted sam and 5.2 the night before he signed.

- Boss34

You got that from your insider friend, right?

How hard is it to swallow Samson reinfart from top to bottom? How can you jam his entire body down your throat continously. Chokiing hazard?

Your turn WET1, now its homies turn. Dry sam off and pass him to the right.

As stupid as you thinking Girgensons is a good hockey player.

It’s still not difficult to see that the team changed their position a bit once they signed Hall...it’s called flexibility.

But go on almighty lord of the buzz and keep telling us how great you are

- Stripes77

Let's keep this gem in mind.

Still crying about ka-boo-hoo-hun and signing him (a 40 point player ) for 3.5 million $?

During covid?

That whole episode was as stupid as any hockey take ever. You whined and cried like a little child. Asset management blah blah blah.

Kahun still available/ girgensons 3 year deal.

But go on......

And Girgensons blows.

Like 98% of your takes.

This is why I have no faith in the Sabres. They signed Girgensons to a 3 year deal at 30% (or more) over market value. But you can’t seem to understand that because you’re a fan boy of the guy that can’t stand on his feet when trying to “be tough” and deliver a body check

Comparing the two is apples and toilet paper.

Girgensons, for his role and abilities, was vastly overpaid with dollars and term compared to his direct peers, who play the exact same role he plays, and share his abilities.

There are still a lot of talented top 9 players still available in free agency, that will not doubt sign with some teams once some trades are made and RFAs are signed. A lot of players are being squeezed out right now due to flat cap and limited funds. Girgensons' contract will always be a stain. I'm not griping about it, it just is what it is. It's no where near the disease of the Okposo contract, but it exists in a similar light.

Kahun will find a team, as will his comparables, like Granlund, Galchenyuk, Haula, Duclair and Kovalchuk.

Right, they were giving him 7 million and worried about signing sam longterm before anyone else.

That was your take:
WRONG

- Boss34

Listen attitude, I heard 3 yrs 7 mill, they were prepared to pay Reinhart not walk from him and i'll put that up against anything you got.

How many seasons and how many partners does he need before we all agree it's him and not his lack of a partner that fits?

Pre-covid, the number is probably a little high, considering they're only buying 1 year of UFA. Not doubting you because I have no source on it, just seems to me it's high. Or, maybe it's as high as they were prepared to go.

Next year, feel free to bookmark, I'm guessing, if the financials of the league see the light at the end of the tunnel.... 6.5x5.

What arbitrator was going to give Kahun $3.5M ?

Bertuzzi got $3.5M and he had a respectable case of getting $4M plus.

Kahun would have gotten $2.25-2.5M.

I don’t know where this $3.5M keeps coming from.

The Sabres gave him a deal sub $2M and appeared got the market right on Kahun but managed to overpay Girgensons by $800K.

Good post

At least your consistent. No faith in the Sabres/ girgensons deal. Fair enough

They gave a raise to one of a few players who overachieved last season.

12 goals and 5th in goal scoring on the 25th ranked team. Regular linemates, larrson and okposo.

Based on last season and his 18 of 19 points being 5 x5 .
Why does this get thrown out the window?

2.2 seems fair. The coach saw this player 1st hand and wants to build a team around effort and accountability.

If girgensons signed for 1.4 would you like him?
Or does he fall too much for that contract?

I understand that but they were not walking away and had the money to sign him and were prepared for it if needed.

Just bizarre you can predict the market for middle 6 forwards but not bottom 3 wingers.

If Girgensons signed for 1.4 for the same term I wouldn’t be thrilled with the term but it would be at least something on par salary wise with what he should be making.

That I have no doubt. I haven't seen an intelligent argument for the team even considering to walk away, yet.

So first of all, if you needed to wipe your ass, an apple might not be the 1st choice ,but would work.

Why does girgs role matter ? He scored 12 goals last season.

Everyone else compares goals and points. 5 x 5.

Nope , not girgensons, he is a role player bla bla bla.

Again, he outplayed his last contract an deserved a raise.

How many points would sam have without jack or pp1 time?

Sam - larry - okposo
I bet 12 goals would be a stretch......

He only had 12 more , while afforded the 3rd most 5 x 5 time in the league , with olloffson and eichel.

89 said they were willing to go to 7mill with Rhino, that's what they were prepared for, don't ever remember him saying that was a done deal, they got him cheaper.

Oh man. Dude. Come on.

The universe agrees that Larsson was a more useful, impact player than Girgensons last year. How did Girgensons gain 6x the amount of money than Larsson on his next contract?

What would Girgs have gotten on the open market? 1 year @ 1m? Still unsigned? Can't imagine 3 years or a raise anywhere, let alone both.

Girgensons isnt the problem, the real problem is kyle okposo makes more money on the 4th line than rhinehart on the 1st line. Kyle is making 2 million dollars less than taylor hall who won the hart. Its ludicrous that these players get 100 percent guaranteed money the second they sign. Nothing stops a player from just throwing in the towel after he signs a big contract.
