I was thinking the same thing, he signed for 1 more year, but almost twice as much in salary as girgensons.

This is an obscure offseason, where players have admitted that long term dollars are really not available. We will know the Sabres feelings next year, with Sam's last year of eligibility. If he receives one year, he's gone. If he prices himself out for too large of a long term deal, he'll get 1 year, 6M and jet.

Statistically he's a top line player since 2015. These are facts, not opinions.
