Jesus Christ dude you’re heading into Fitz territory.

No ones depressed about it, I’m discussing it.

Stop telling people what they should be feeling or talking about

- sbroads24

Broads - you really shouldnt be discussing that here, hope you feel better.

Only in Buffalo would we complain about guys playing up to their potential. Jesus Christ.
- Powerslave

I am not complaining, I hope they do, the Sabres have had a good offseason, just makes it harder to sign everyone if that happens. We finally make the playoffs and can't bring back some players cause we can't afford them. Don't take things out of context.

Get through the covid inspired flat cap and flexibility around the expansion draft. I don’t think it’s dangerous. They MIGHT lose someone to the “wink and nod agreement” of we will sign you after the expansion draft. But it might be worth the flexibility...
- Gr8daygo

Might lose a UFA? I think it's a given that we lose multiple UFA's, probably go so far as to say most. They are almost reconstructing this team next summer. I don't see other teams doing this. It's strange.

If they were paying attention to the play clock it's game over.

I said at the start of the season to watch out for Arizona, but that's a real brain fart in a critical moment. The NFC West is a powerhouse this season

Over half the team will need new contracts or will need to be replaced next season

It’s a lot to put on the shoulders of a guy who three months ago was in charge of making the zamboni drivers schedule

Build around #28 ? 🤔

I find it strange as well. That's why I feel like there leaving the door open for some sort of restructuring?

Maybe it lures in a real top executive? Flexibility? Ownership?

The last guy was stuck with moulson. bogo, and okposo.

Probably doesn't help the free agency upper management market?

If I try really hard to be optimistic, another year of flat cap could create even more opportunities. I really see an organization going year to year and avoiding bad $ and financial risk, even if it hurts them long term.

it all sounds good to me. I've never been worried about dollars, more about term. short term deals allow for flexibility and options. sign everyone to one or two year deals outside of your core core players.... (eichel, dahlin up next) forever and I won't complain. hated the okposo deal, realllly hate the skinner deal for example.

The team got a 2C, 1LW, PK help and signed one brutal, low money contract. They have work to do to decide the defense, but beyond that, this is a better team. Other teams can no longer focus on Eichel. There's more power, real power, everywhere.

It's a nice place to be.

My signature should just be "...and there's more work to be done"

We all recognize the bold
I don’t think anyone here believes this is a Cup Contender next season

But for some reason,
MANY here can’t help themselves from constantly focusing on how we aren’t good enough yet

The negativity is astounding to me
It’s more than ok to enjoy the good things we’ve done this offseason, and be HOPEFUL that there’s more to come

And if we stink again.... it’s JUST hockey....
no biggie

Ok fair enough.

There’s a few simple moves, that can take that projection to around 90 points.

One of them is doing anything about Hutton and getting a decent caliber goalie here with Ullmark.

Another is getting Ristolainen off the team so the coach doesn’t play him 20+ minutes

Those were 2 of the 3 top moves they needed to make if we all made a list going into the offseason

1. Goalie
2. 2C
3. Trading a D man

Is that not accurate?

- sbroads24

Aren’t there MANY months left in the offseason?
I don’t think too many ppl here disagree with your list

2C has happened, check

Trading a defenseman is debatable imo,
but still a possibility

And the experts have been saying we’ve been trying to trade for a goalie for weeks

So it’s not like this new management have their heads in the sand
They already done better than we all thought they would
And there’s still plenty of time to make more good moves... RIGHT ???

1. Way more than enough, imo

2. Moderately

3. Yes. I’m a big sports fan, and i do get ppl being frustrated with the Sabres. But we don’t have any control over what’s gonna happen with this team.
Imo...
it’s one thing to blow off steam about it
But it’s another to wallow in it, & that’s pointless
