I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he started another group in the natural gas field. I might be wrong but I'm pretty certain he's still involved.

I don't think he's worth that anymore, most of his money is tied up in the bills and sabres etc... I mean hes doesn't have 4 billion in liquid assets.

- Carubba-Kaleta

According to Forbes he's worth $5.1B. He sold assets totalling $4.7B in 2010. He sold some land (or land rights) in 2014 (for $1.75B, I believe) the proceeds of which he used to buy the Bills

Look it up, it was a buffalo news article. Either way he seems to be fine at the moment financially. I was just speculating, this is the first I've heard of a possible new sabres ownership.
- Carubba-Kaleta

Yeah I am not disagreeing with you, I just know he sold Assets in 2010 for 4.6 billion and then just before he bought the Bill's he sold another 1 of his company's for 1.7 billion.

I think they would have sucked it up for a year and paid him what he got in arbitration.

You think Sam would only get 5+ in Buffalo? I think if he was awarded something ghastly it would have hurt his trade value though. I don't think he was all that worried about staying in Buffalo I think he is thinking about staying marketable priced wise.

- GilPerreault11

Its exactly what I've saying he would get, and it's a good deal. 5.2 leaves the bar low and the expectations easy to meet. Seems like he understands the eichel factor more than any of the sammers around here.

Sammers have been saying multi year 7 or 8 million. One insider in particular. Actually 2 insiders in particular.

This is a great prove it or move it deal.

Yup. Must be nice to pull out your wallet and say, "how much did you want for that NFL franchise?"

The man is filthy rich i agree with you. Like I said I was just speculating on why their are rumors (first I've heard) of new ownership.

He must be bored. Why else would a 69 yr old man worth $5B dive back into the business that made him rich?

On the sabres? Not sure how high but he'll have made a profit on the sale itself

No I meant the oil and gas field venture. He recently bought very low due to the economic decline in that industry.

I think he started up a few years ago. Don't know what that means for his purchase price

Even with the most recent 50th anniversary blunders and all the losing i personally still want him as the owner of both teams.

I know its not a popular opinion here but I think he's truly trying to bring a championship to buffalo with all his might.

Yes, by 19 days (June 30th vs. his birthday).

He's 27 now, so he's UFA at the end of the season. 19 days kept him from UFA this year.

It's cool, think they are planning on 6K hopefully being ready, atleast maybe backup.

What if “we have an internal cap” was a loud message to the players, sign low, then they can sign / trade players? If you told me they could sign a player for $8m and resign all their players and have a little room left, I would not have believed you. So far, strong offseason, with opportunity to improve still. I’m impressed.

I still feel Sabres offered Kahun a lower salary and he could still accept. Then opportunity to improve. I think about the line combos that don’t include Mitts, and only if he could pan out. This lineup is starting to look legit. Hall doing all the right things (Allen jersey).

Feels like they are playing a really dangerous game avoiding any commitment, except where absolutely necessary (Girgensons).

It’s hilarious actually that the one guy who got term is by far the worst player.

Ralph Krueger’s personal relationship with Taylor Hall has saved this from being a very, very disappointing offseason
