Spending half my time in Milton and half in North Jersey I had to get creative.
My cable in Jersey has MSG so Rags, Isles and Devs. Got NHL package. Flyers were blacked out. Had to get VPN to stream Flyers in Jersey. I also used it in Canada while there. In the states I got NBC and NBCSN. In Canada we only get NBC. I could stream NHL network on my US phone but not my US tablet or laptop using the Canada Ip address.
My phone drops calls at the border switching from Rogers to AT&T. Utube music has to reset.

I only brought up citizenship as a base level rebuttal to your assertions of unnamed, unsubstantiated, and unvetted as of yet, "data". Of course study can teach anyone on any subject matter. Your assertion, with or without data, is flawed in reality. The fact you don't get that, means you have not understood enough, or don't live it, or both.

The wealth of knowledge and insight here supporting your original point about Canada, is insurmountable as usual, only to you. As usual, PMs or writing your own blog are the best choice.

I guess by the fact you remember an earlier discourse from some time ago, and are rebutting this one, means that my few words have some weight.

For the last time:

1. Originally, I made no assertion. I mused: "Wonder if that contributes to the lack of political polarization in your country compared to ours" and wondered if it is true. No data was sought. it was a relative comparison.

2. The notion that anybody has to "live" an experience to be able to talk about it went out 100 years ago. Your issue is not with me: its with modernity.

3. One of your countrymen agreed with me. I had the same interaction in Ek's thread some months back, and many others from your country did as well.

4. Your dismissal of data/research/study is fairly typical nowadays of what I strongly suspect is your political position. It will be wasted on you, but since you brought it up, I will provide three studies for the benefit of others from highly reputed sources. The fist one is from Stanford, and the National Bureau of Economic Research. The second one is from Foreign Affairs. The last graphic is from Canadian Election Studies.

What I found, in summary:

Canadian polarization is high. However, it is not as bad as the US.

Much of the polarization is occurring because of some shifting from center to center left and center right. The far left is growing slightly and the far right is actually diminishing.

Some of the polarization is actually occurring because of views being held by minorities, not whites.

For (frank)s sake, can we get back to talking about how we should be panicking that Fletch hasn't solidified our lineup when there is only 3 months until the season starts?

We are NEVER going to change each others minds about politics.

So lets just get back to hockey.

PT21 has been asked multiple times to keep politics off of HB. Also that there is an alternative with the Misc. forum to talk about stuff like this and to keep it off of here. He won't accept that challenge. He will only respond to those who he thinks he can bully.

I normally forget about past blobs, but remembered this one to see if Journeyman had imbibed the distinction between 'Canadian polarization less than US" to "Canadian polarization low."

Now to your point. Yesterday, I was shooting the breeze with Landros2 about his life choices, Canadian hockey coverage, the culture, and the degree to which there is political polarization as part of general musings. It was sociological, not political. I never took political sides, and indeed did not follow up on a comment where L2 mentioned the leftward drift of most parties except the Conservatives. It was friendly talk, the sort that might occur between pals later in the day. I had no agenda, and only made general sociological observations.

You guys have become the equivalent of the leftist fringe elements, who see race and oppression in the color of toilet paper and of the moon. Except you guys are not the fringe anymore and you laugh at the former without irony. So over-inflamed are your antenna that you see things where they don't exist.

But lets grant you what you do claim, that the talk was political.

What is politics? It is to ideology what the underwear is to the body, while social behavior are the clothes that we wear for outer appearance.

Now suppose I am indeed a provocateur, who asks people to show their undies in public.

Who would complain?

1. Those who are offended by public indecency. But that should be independent of the nature of their underwear.

2. Who else would complain? Those who are insecure about their underwear, for it might be stained or soiled.

Now, it turns out that those who complain about politics etc here to me are heavily weighted on your side of the spectrum.

As such, we find more evidence for 2 over 1, except 2 wants the nature of the complaint to be labeled as 1.

Iotw, buddy, you are not fooling anybody.

Thats it, I am outta here, I will leave you the last word, which I am afraid I will not read. If you want a debate, alert me over PM.

This is pure ignorance. You lack the self awareness of when you even are taking sides. You don't have to take a side for something to be political.

Asking you not to talk politics is not about taking a side or being on a side. It's simply asking you to stop starting and bringing up your repeated rhetoric. For someone so educated, why is something so simple so hard for you to comprehend?

You also need to learn the basics of the website. On the right hand side of your screen, there is a listing of the threads that you have recently participated in. A new post to that thread will result in the thread being highlighted in blue. A PM is not necessary.
