Beg to differ ...Mikheyev may be "worth" 1.2 during an arbitration b/c he's a RFA. But he's a top 6 winger who can play both ends of the ice. He just helped the Leafs cut Kapanen and Johnsson and their 3.5 milly contracts loose.

He won't get paid a lot but his replacement cost is far greater than 1.2.

I don’t think Mikheyev goes back to the K. He really wants the NHL. If it comes down to it, he tries to swing a one year deal and hopes he puts up good numbers to generate some marketability. The team just might hold on and take whatever the arbitrator spits out for two years because it kicks things down the road a bit.

Hes played 39 nhl games.
Not sure hes earned regular top 6 forward yet.

Who knows ..but, it is leverage.

Leafs are in a good spot either way. Next year or two they have quite a few guys that might fit into those middle six winger spots.

Amirov, Robertson, Anderson, Barabanov ....

Lots of cheap options if Hyman, Kerfoot or Mikheyev get too expensive for the Cap.

If Hunter wanted Konecny, I assume they make the pick at where they were. But if Hunter said they were taking Dermot at 25...and they traded down and still got him it was the right thing to do..
