I respect Carol, but seriously imagine if every decent content writer on the internet was just thanked by their readers for the first 10-30 comments every time. It would nice for them but really bizarre from the norm

Your thread is such a great representation of Vancouver. There are a couple great posters, a lot of snobby posters, and some filth.......aaaaand Albertans are not really welcome. There is enough drama to make you not want to stay for too long.

It would be like putting mang in a time machine/microwave and setting to “7 years”.

Beep beep beep oh our Gallagher is ready.

Its 2020, never happen. This world is far too cynical, and frankly poopty!
Everyone is so brave behind a computer screen in an imaginary world. Not disagreeing with you Nucker but sadly, its not real.

For sure, I mean just look at Twitter or a YouTube comment section, full of hatred and sensationalism.

I quickly scrolled through the YouTube comment section of a CBC news video last night and the amount of racists and paranoid tinfoil hat people was insane

That's pretty much the expected number. Bergevin publically promised to make him their highest paid forward a while ago.

Pretty good number for Montreal too.

I don’t think that’s a crazy overpay, maybe a year too long. In four of the last five years Gallagher has scored more goals than he put up assists resulting in low point totals. The reality is that before covid he was also on pace to hit his 3rd straight 30+ goal season.

I thought it was an overpay at first too but after seeing his goal totals it makes sense. Not too many 30 goal scorers make less than 6 million aav and the ones that do tend to play with way better line mates that what Gallagher has at his disposal in Montreal

Anderson 5.5
Toffoli 4.2
Gallagher 6.5
That’s 16.2 mil on the right wing

The Flames spend more than that for their LWs and are currently spending $0 on RWs.

I agree with ya there that it’s poor roster construction unless one of those guys moves to the left. Especially when you consider caufield will be nhl ready before any of those contracts are up. But the Gallagher deal itself isn’t far from his actual value.

Realistically the habs probably didn’t need to sign edmondson with romanov coming up and could have made an offer to Hoffman or maybe even Hall but hindsight is 20/20

There has got to be a trade between us and Montreal at some point. How is Montreal's left wing depth?

I believe it goes

Tatar (2021 UFA)
Drouin
Lehkonen
Byron

Who would you suggest we move? I don’t think their right wingers are worth any of our lefties and even if it was for Gaudreau the habs would be stupid to trade caufield before their RW’s.

Plus I believe we had mangiapane playing the right wing in our top six last year and he excelled there.

That's not the point. The point is the Flames are spending all their money on one side and they're doing just fine.

It's also debatable whether the Flames LWs or Canadiens RWs are a better use of the cap space.

Toffoli has himself said that he’s comfortable playing at LW and the Habs even mentioned it to him before signing him

Was thinking this exact same thing when the trade was announced. Flames should've been all over that instead of panicking and signing Tanev to a huge deal. Another example was the Toews trade to the Avs. 2 seconds may seem steep but Toews is a legit top 4 Dman and is still really young. Flames should've been all over that.

Maybe they were? Maybe part of Markstrom was Tanev? Who knows beside the Flames front office, player agents and the opposing GM. Tanev is meh, He essentially fills a roster spot with Brodie leaving for TO. He's a good D-man not great. But we have the RHD we (needed) and gain some cap space. Would I have rather seen Schmidt? Sure but its not like we are getting 5-6 D man for Tanev's contract.

So whats still missing? There's still Mangiapane and arbitration but do we see any other moves?

Well, Toffoli plays both sides. So your original point doesn't mean much unless you're limiting them to one position.
