Agree it seems that there is a glut on D; but the other option might be to have all vets in the NHL and send the prospects down to play together in Rockford until they are fully ready, and then flip the vets for futures. Bring them in one at a time when they are ready.

Interesting thought process on a scenario that may be a bit of a reach yet still possible if management is doing the youth movement in a radical format.
In other words, instead of infusing the upcoming season's roster with youth, have them all develop together in Rockford then graduate as many as you can the following season.
For this to work, the varsity team needs to have several veteran players on one-year deals so they can be flipped for futures and open up spots for the prospects who grew together in the AHL.
Don't know how realistic that all is -- especially with no firm plans yet on when either the NHL or AHL will begin -- but still something to consider.
