The 17 goals and 60 points are almost definitely an outlier (hell, they're more than even Torey Krug's career highs and better than Shattenkirk's best years, too). But can Gustafsson get you 10 goals and 40ish points? Absolutely he can.

I have owned this guy the past two years and let me tell you he is as bad as having Voracek playing D. Offensively he can be very good but Gost is likely better on the D side. Ironically they both had 60+ points seasons not too long ago. I think Schmidt may be on his way and Ghost on the way out, something has to give or poor Carter is going to get some nasty surprises.

I truly don’t know what I was expecting going into the off-season. But this was absolutely not it. It felt like a time to be aggressive and take a leap forward. Instead they’ve taken two steps back (not all a fault of their own).

10-team no-trade clause. Plus VGK were desperate to move his full salary.

So that is not expansion protected? If so was a second or a third worth essentially one year of Schmidt ? Leaving him exposed in the expansion draft and keeping our in house guys? I would have been ok with it

So Vegas trades a solid dman for nothing to a division rival they just played in a knockout drag out 7 game series.

Have to admit, Fletch is killing it so far.

I would think it’s more of Vancouver swooped in with a decent offer and they took it. Kudos to them.

To Vancouver for a 3rd? Disgusting. I guess he got to choose where he would land because if Fletch wasnt willing to do that he needs to go.

So I would think it’s obvious that the flyers didn’t want to take on Schmidt’s contract. While Charlie says the flyers didn’t have the cap they could have made room. Appears they settled for Gus at 3 mil. If Charlie is right about not enough cap then the flyers could be done, that would be disappointing. They could trade ghost but the market seems tight.

A third round pick has what 10% chance to make the NHL? They gave Schmidt away for nothing.

The fact that they took it shows how bad the offers must have been from other teams.

Based on a rough estimate on state taxes (NV vs MO), Pietrangelo's $8.8M AAV with Vegas is the equivalent to approx $9.4M in St. Louis. $616,000 in tax savings.

So Pieterangelo essentially moving his family halfway across the country to live in a desert to play for an expansion team for an extra 600k. Interesting.

- PLindbergh31

If you think that $5M over the rest of his career is meaningless, you might be delusional.

The plan to sit back and steal players from cap strapped teams has thus far been a complete failure.

Sure they cant force players to put the flyers on their lists but shouldn't our gm have an idea of...

Ok. My two year old wont stop yelling in my ear. No idea what point I was getting at. Ughhhh father of 4
