i was jk about the flyers because they can't afford to add anyone right now anyway but i do like gallagher. and it's not like he's 31 or 32. he's still relatively young. he's worth some good cash to me. - kicksave856
if Gallagher ever gets traded (really hoping this doesn't happen) I really hope he gets traded to a western conference team, just thinking about him wearing another jersey makes me nauseous

Maybe 7MM - habs88888
Too much ... I'd go 5.5M x 5 years max.
I wouldn't go longer because of his style of play. |

6x7, and he would still be the highest-paid forward on the roster - Pat1993
I think this is very fair, but he'd probably want 6.25 so it's equal to Petry. I don't have a problem with that either. |

So be it ... we have drafted reserves for this reason.
We should only give long term contracts (> 5 years) to superstars. |

I love Gally, eveybody does. he's no superstar but he bings so much more than goals, I'd be ready to give him 6 or 7 years.
that being said, if he wants to go, so be it. the return should be interesting. |

I'd be totally fine with 6.25 as well... people will complain about the term because they're scared of injuries with his style of play, which is a legitimate concern, but I still feel that he's smart enough to adapt and stay an effective player... I know this is business, but if anyone deserves a longer-term with the way he played for the habs it's definitely him

come to think of it, because of covid and social distancing we might need more space on the habs' bandwagon after all... |

As Apex mentioned ... maybe go to 6.25M to equal Petry but for 5 years only.
The guy is gonna be pretty banged up by the time he gets to 33 years old. |

I'm sorry fellas, but Gallagher is likely asking for 6.5 to 7M per year.
He's been one of the most consistant goal scorer at 5 on 5 in the last few years and his impact, courage and leadership is not only recognized in Montreal but everywhere in the league.
The choice will be to either pay that price, which would be an overpay most likely, or let him go. It's kind of a lose/lose situation for the Habs if you ask me.
The lesser of two evils is, of course, to overpay. But I guess it's only fair since the guy's been a bargain for the last 5 years.

Bergevin won't trade him.
It could easily be the best move to do so.
But I don't see it happening, not with the idea of making the playoffs being alive. |
