aren't they currently over the cap, which means MB has to make a move?

There will be a trade no matter what. Best is to shred Byron off.

Maybe Kovy for cheap? Third line LW. He did play with Toffoli at LA

I liked what Kovalchuk brought at the end of a very depressing season, but I'm not sure it would work out so well over the course of a full season. I guess if it isn't expensive it could be an interesting option, but they'll have to manage his ice time for sure

There's no room for Kovalchuk on this team anymore.

What I know is I don’t want Lehkonen to be 3rd LW so we need to find an option there

I'd take him over Weal on the 4th line

HMmm some People think Toffoli will play RW, meaning Ti Paul or Lehkonen will play 3rd line LW.
I doubt that.. unless Bergevin isn’t done?

Drouin - Suzuki - Anderson
Toffoli - KK - Armia
Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
Lekhonen - Evans - Weal/Hudon

There's no room for Weal on that team either.

Maybe as the 13th forward....

I keep seeing Toffoli being put on the left side.

But I have yet to see any actual indication that he played there at some point in his career.

As of now, depends on who goes... if it's Byron, Weal draws in by default, unless Poehling starts there

He's listed as a RW/LW on capfriendly, that's some indication

What about Ylonen?

His one assist in 4 games in europe doesn't scream NHL ready?

Well he's been mostly used as a RW. A position where he has known success.

So I'm still a little unsure about the whole "let's try him on the left" thing.

He has played both sides, but mostly LW. I actually think Drouin plays better on the RW, they can figure it out in the pre-season

I don't know if we'll ever see Ylonen on the Habs, certainly not next year... but there's really no room for him and won't be for awhile, could make for a decent trade chip at some point though

yeah, but it's not like the habs were relying on him for any important duties or whatever, so I'm thinking this is positive news for him more than anything if he didn't want to play in Laval
