I’m firmly anti-Leivo. Let MacEwen show he’s what Ferland was supposed to be & give Lind a shot.
- DrChristianTroy

If you want more opportunity for prospects I agree with this. Is Lind ready?

I feel the same way about Lind as you do about Leivo lol. Lind seems like such a tweener to me, doesn't have speed to create separation, doesn't have the strength to be a cycle player, doesn't have the skill to dangle and create space against NHL dmen. Has decent hands and vision, and I love how much he stirs poop up, but I'm not seeing it with him.

Would love to be wrong

- Nucker101

I get it, but we know what Leivo isn’t in this context. Let’s let Lind show us he isn’t either & they can both kick rocks... I have a feeling he could be an effective winger for Gaudette though.

Hoglander would have to come in on the third line to start, like most other prospects do. He'd need to be sheltered. Can't put the pressure of scoring with Petey or playing shutdown with Bo right away.

I think he's just more ready and able for that.

- NewYorkNuck

That's the other thing, Green doesn't trust any other center other than Bo in a shutdown role so Hoglander wouldn't fit on Bo's line since Green wouldn't trust him defensively.

I bet Podzolkin could play in the NHL now. I doubt Hog is ready.
- belcherbd

For sure , maybe K,Lind is ready too

Maybe a fool will take Myers for a third
- pker2theend

imagine being that idiot who takes Myers for a 3rd after watching Schmidt just go for the same price. Would be a fireable offense

The difference is I’m talking about Hoglander in a top 6 role and Lind in a bottom 6 role. Hoglander can play now but he might not produce enough to deserve a role where he should be played.
- DrChristianTroy

Hog 3rd line to start
Lind 4th imo

Go from there as they grow.

Why force him into something he isn't ready for? Why not let him play another year in the AHL/overseas before bringing him in for that role? His first season was a down year in the AHL, last year he rebounded – let him build on that. Signing Leivo for one year covers that.

No, he can’t... But we might have to strategically place dudes with our cap sitch, his 🧠 makes up for his skating (in a limited role) IMO.

Exactly – he shelters Gaudette, so may as well have them both sheltered on that line with Green sheltering Ferland's head there too

Lind is similar to Boeser in that he’s slow where the forecheck won’t be a strength as 1st man in. Hoglander has an all around game going for him.

Yeah, Hog and Pod are more of the forechecking, energetic buzzsaw type of players.

Leivo can always be signed he's an injured player that has zero leverage that no one is looking at. As for Lind they might want to figure out if they want to keep him cause he could be taken in expansion. Plus they have no sure landing spot for development on him right now.

Its a thought for the big plan. Not saying not to sign Leivo just no rush to do so while they sort everything out and as told Nucker keep as much cap free for other opportunities.

He's OK at the AHL level, the NHL is faster. He's a damn good agitator though, I've seen him piss off some AHL teams

Holy poop, impossible not to love that deal! What a steal. This is like adding JT Miller but without giving up the 1st. For me, that just made this offseason a B+.

But we already have

JTM - Petey - BB
Pearson - Bo - Ferland
Roussell- Gaudette - Virtanen
Motte - Beagle - MacEwen

Sutter, LE, Sven,

As forwards, don't think Hoglander jumps over 4 of those players, maybe one or two of them..

Yup guess RSD (yes Nate plays RD too) and top 6F gets them higher grade. Time will tell lots of it until the unknown season start date.

I did a cap roster awhile ago...

So you did another one of your fantasy rosters, what does it have to do with the fact that the Canucks, once Virtanen is awarded a contract at about 3 million, will be over the cap limit, so they are given a 2nd buyout window to use, if needed.

He could bump Roussel & Ferland is still likely to be LTIR til proven otherwise.

Jake is in the roster @2.5m with 1.1m left over. Buyouts are still a possibility.
